Best fluke trip so far......
Ten keepers all on gulp high low rig that I've been using.
Flat calm ocean, northern NJ had no more than 5 knots while friend off Cape May had rough seas and wind. So flat I let er' rip for a quick top end with 1/4 tank, top down, trimmed just right and hit 50.8 mph. That's fast. |
:thre:
10 keepers is a good day guess I should start fluking again before it shuts down |
May take day off to go Tuesday with my son.
Doesn't seem like work........but trailering down, launch, running, fishing, retreive, ride home, clean fish and boat......and 3 hours later I'm asleep ! |
Now don't you just love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!:nut:

I'm going to send a PM to you with the details of my fluke killer rig.....right now. |
Did another trip Tuesday with my son....... very good fluking, keepers to 5.2lbs / 24" fat.
Light west wind, flat seas, 35 mph the approx. 12 miles up to Shrewsbury Rocks spot. The big etec just loafing along...... |
Good fishing B! You seen the underwater fluke vid(s) on youtue? Guy put the camera down where you can see the rigs bouncing bottom and fluke chasing and hitting them.

Yup,and it's taken me a while to establish a way to catch more fluke ........
We have guys up in N. NJ that are very good at it, some private, some for hire. I finally set up a rig and method that is doing better. Not great, better. Caught 15 - 20 this last time out, with a few keepers to the 5.2lb, lost several of course including one that seemed huge etc........ " Cadence of the jigging action " made a difference too. Anyway, still no real doormats of 8lbs - 15lbs . Maybe some day. Who knows, if I get a 10lb plus, I might even let it go........ |

Funny you should say that. I've often thought the same thing. Big fish almost deserve to be put back. Kind of like a thank you for a great fight and a photo op. |
I agree on turning the bigguns loose for the most part. Problem I have is the inability to catch a flattie over 4 lbs to date. I guess I'll worry about the 10 - 15lber when and if that ever happens. Where I fish I think I need to try to fish the nearshore structures in 30ft - 40ft if I really want to catch some doormats. I think they are staged up there right now awaiting the fall run.
Keep on keepin' on B! p.s. we got to learn you on how to post pics of these big flatties. :sun: |
