Thanks - cavitation plate is even with the hull bottom when the engines down.
Based on assorted feedback, I'm planning to raise the motor, after I confirm where the cav plate is positioned when the boats up on plane. Additional option is drop to the 17" prop, both towards goal of running 50 mph + At that point, I'll know it's all set to run at maximum efficiency 3,000 - 4,000 rpms where I run the boat 90 + % of the time, besides trolling. |

I'd set it two holes higher than you have it. You really should be able to spin that 18.
|
One guy to hold up the engine - one guy to move the bolts.
How hard can that be ? Where's Ted Arcidi ...... or Bill Kazmier when you need him ? |

I used a engine picker to lift mine. yes lift the engine and you should be able to spin that 18 just fine. That looks almost as good as mine does on my boat---lol:party:

If it is sitting on wood and your two steady-men keep it straight up, I would say no chance...like I said...I've done this and it worked well...Now that I think about it, I did it alone one day at the ramp parking lot at Lake Bowen...once you've got just one bolt in and nutted, it ain't goin' anywhere... |
How fast does it go????

Going to test on flat water tomorrow - Del River to confirm where cavitation plate rides with boat on plane, and if the prop holds on fairly tight turns. Based on what I see, plan is to raise the prop one, ......maybe both holes and re test. I WANT 50 mph + !!! Then I'll be totally satisfied because so far, I'm very impressed with this etec 200 HO. At 3,500 rpm, the boat is moving 25 mph area, and the motor sounds like it's just about idling. Seriously - that's how it sounds. It has a lot of torque - bump the throttle just a little and the boat surges forward. |
I'd raise it two holes, that way you won't have to wonder if one was enough

actually--the fuel should not have caused the issue--the dealer is not allowed to open the injector--they send a whole new unit out and then install it and sync with the engine computer with a lap top. My injector issues were internal electricial connections, replaced under warranty, no issues since. have not heard of many going bad except on the 07 3.3 litres.
|
I don't know what the issues with them were, I was told by my neighbor/ marine mechanic that I needed them when he was getting my boat ready for the season.... basically all I know about the engine is you turn they the key to start it. If it were made of wood then it would be a different subject... lol.

Do you have a I command gauge ? If so it will tell you if you have a bad injector. Is it running on all 6 cylinders?
