Finally got the Tabs on

I finaly found the time to install the Trim Tabs on the V. Might get out next week and check out the Improvement before heading Salmon fishing. I ran the wire through an existing hole saving at least two more I have to drill bellow the H2O line.

22 Brand new holes that might be why it took me a year to put the tabs on. I used two tubes of 3M 5200 got that sh!t all over the place but I think it's sealed good.
I have spent all day and I don't have power to the rocker switch. I think the Brain might be F*&%ed.:arrr:
They look nice any way.

Glad to see you got them on--You will love them and wonder why you did not do them sooner (Damn the holes).

I have the Lenco's as well--I just drilled thru the hole at the top mount for the wires and then 5200 the mount--that way no wires hanging out even.

Did you hook up the auto retract?? I did--it is nice.

You did a nice job--now get out there and test them!!!

Do not have any real good shots of the tabs--but you can see em--

bgreene 05-30-2013 05:05 AM

You'll enjoy the performance - big improvent - just a bit of down tab greatly reduces pounding in a chop.

Redneck 05-30-2013 06:18 AM

Genie Aye I didn't conect the retractor wire I have the LED indicator switch and had to conect it to get power. It's all good now just need to test them out. I was going to drill the hole for the cable and hide the main cable but I all ready one on either side. I just couldn't drill two more in my tub. Now to get one of them fancy four strokes like you got.

Bgreen I can't wait to check the new ride last year out on the big blue my Dad tried to pass me in his 21' NorthWest Jet. My sidekick said WTF dose he think he's trying to do I think he is going to try and pass you. He was POUNDING through the chop we laughed and took off on him. At the cleaning station he finaly admited that my O'l WellCraft is a better ocean boat than his.:butt: They will make a good ride BETTER.

.

Do not mistake that for a 4 stroke--that is a 2 stroke, and love it.

besides that is a nice yammie--those are where the Yamaha reputation came from.

Yer gonna LOVE what the new tabs do for the V20...these are great riding hulls, but a set of trim tabs take it from GREAT to AWESOME!!...

Your going to have to wait a week or two one of the Greatest men in my life passed away today. My Granfather died at the age of 89 and set the bar for almost any man to measure himself against.
Miss you O'l Man!!

Hedge 06-03-2013 08:01 PM

Sorry for your loss.

Redneck, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. But look on the good side... I never got to know either of my grandfathers. Both were dead before I was 5. So really, you're a lucky man. Prayers going out to you and him.

The V is a diffrent boat now with the Tab's I played with it in 2-3' waves for an hour to get a little idea of how to use them and how they handle.:party::party: It was awsome took the Ride to a new level I was eating the waves with the sharp bow and the flare did it's job to a T gently tossing the spray stright out side ways no bow slap with out a drop on us. I was very impressed with how she enters the wave when your 3/4ing them wiht the tabs down. I run across the lake at 28-37Mph in pretty good wave action with the best ride I have ever had. I had a few guys come over to me in the marina asking about the boat after seeing us out on the water. Not in the 50Mph club yet the top speed I was able to hit 49.6Mph on the GSP but I did wave 3/4 of a tank of fuel the kicker motor and 3 guy's in the boat. Mabie I can make it into the club with a tail wind.

:nic:

I'm definitely envious....nice work on the tabs Redneck. Also, a belated sorry for the loss of your grandfather.

So are these the 12x9 lencos in the $800 - $900 range? I hate to part with that much dough for an accessory but it sounds like it is worth it. I guess I will start saving my pennies.

Thanks Bro I hear your pain on the $$$ I got lucky and won a 50/50 for $2500 and a brand new set of tabs were on there way. I didn't think they would make that much of a diff on the boat. To be honest I thought they would have been more Boat Bling than what they are.

Start saving and looking for one of those deals that come along once in a while you WON'T be dissapointed!!

Blue_Runner 08-07-2013 12:31 PM

Roger that, good info. Been reading all the pros of tabs on here for years. First couple years I was like, "who needs em?" but now that I've ridden on a few boats with tabs I can see they are worth their weight in gold. Also I'm making the long runs more frequently now so anything I can do to make it more comfortable is great. I compared it to the Chinese water torture where they let water drip on you for hours and hours. Eventually it starts to hurt b/c all those little drops add up!

bradford 08-07-2013 07:49 PM

Dayum Redneck....... ya gotta make me go and spend mo' money don't ya?

Nice job, I did the same however my kicker motor is in the way, hence the placement of mine, it is why I will advise, NOT to mount it in this area because I am not impress with the effectiveness of it!!
