Lookin' at a etec 200 HO tomorrow....
Shsshshss........... let's not get too excited........... I've passed on more than one used motor.
Genie A provided me with performance data and wow, sounds great ! Hard to find these in original condition, low hours, no issue, fair price. |
:thre:

I think you might find one or two around here..
In the scrap yards |

I'm LOOKING at a used etec tomorrow buddy, no need for pic's - too soon. And by the way, I'll be the judge of whether my post is worthless or not. Now go get your shine box. |

Some one can always burn down any motor made---Honda--Yamaha--Mercury--Evinrude---does not matter---I have seen them all turned to crap one way or another. |
Put a deposit on the motor so it's moving in the right direction so far.
Will be back to check it out after the 300 hr service and a few other things are completed next week. Then if still good - will take er' and move on to rigging and running. Which would mean my 150hp would be for sale....including the newly installed trim motor, water pump, harness, oil tank AND stainless steel prop. Perfect compression and runs fine all for just.................. $.......hummm......one step at a time. |

What picture would you suggest - mountain stream in the early am ? Smooth waves breaking on a beach ? Ms. Tropicana 2013 ? |

Easy there big fella.. I'm with Aussie on this one... :thre:
Lets see what this new wiz-bang motor looks like... I'll forgo seeing it hung on the stern for now. You have a week...LOL |

Not likely to be on the boat till 1st full week of June or so. Thanks for the interest in seeing pics. I'd rather see Ms Tropicana |
|
Dayum, that will work
|
Round on the tops narrower as she goes down :cen: YES I would put that on my boat.
|
See now I didn't want to make a big deal of it, but yeh, she's an HO model.......
HO as in.............. high output. I can already hear it " more pics please" ........geez you guys are brutal. |
:you:
You have it bad. As for junkyards of motors, Friends brother just lost a 300 hour 115 4-stroke Yamaha. It happens.. Don't let Spare scare you off. Is the HO the same weight as the 250 and the 300? |

Yer scuppers are gonna be submerged either way...your post re movin' batteries forward; it'll help, but won't cure it... |

1. Jump in weight will be approx. 144 lbs..........not all that much. When I have two guys in the back, I get no water from my deck drains, and approx. 2" in the V21 transom well......so, I don't expect to have a big issue. Also, will use deck plugs if I do get water up from there.......... 2. The Evinrude 3.3 liter 200HO is same block as their 225, and 250, so I suppose weight is the same. I'm buying the 200 HO because the V21 is rated for 200hp MAX. ( the 200 HO reportedly puts out 219 hp at the prop so this is great anyway ) 3. What other questions ? More pics of the girl ? Wasn't my posting - ask the other guy. 4. Genie Aye runs this same motor on his 88' V20 and reports all good things........great fuel economy, cruises 35-42 mph at no more than 4,000 rpm, tops over 52 mph. I put deposit - now it's getting the 300 hour service etc, then in a tank to run for me, then if all good........ I drag it home for rigging .......and running ! Thanks |
You can't hide money;-)
:pic: When you get r done of course.. BRP makes some snazzy gauges too.. |

What about hiding money ? Not sure what you're referring to............ |
Got the 200 HO etec, rig planned for this week. My perfectly good 150 maybe sold already.

Waiting to see the pictures of her running---Have fun!!!!

LOL Naa... only about 100 miles between us... and Tice's in Barnaget is between us and makes it even less distance...so IF I ever make it to a raft up and IF he ever makes it to the same raft up we can compare boats at that time... but I'm sure his is way prettier than mine. I think the only boat around that could give him a run for his money in the beauty dept is Lumberslingers.... I use mine to fish, and she really doesn't get the beauty treatment she deserves.. Oh, sure, I wash her and all, but I don't have an enclosure or stuff like that... I have a bimini, but that's about it... (Still gotta mount the arch for the radar... <sigh>)... and I'm seriously thinking about making some bolsters for over the rod racks. It would be kind of interesting though to see the difference in power output between his 4 stroker and my 2 stroker... but so many things can effect the outcome...prop, pitch, load, tabs, etc. Still, ....it might be fun |

Greene's 21 gonna be a HOSS w/that HO!!...you and him need to stage a drag race...well except for the 3,000 mile thingy between ya... |

My boat gets used for fishing........and gets messy.
My last set of pics was taking after a virtual detailing - clean, wax, etc...... The deck gets stained all the time, and hard to keep it clean. Oh well, it's a boat, not a museum piece. 200HO, yup, bought it, delivered it to my rigger and I sold the perfectly good 150 hp looper that's on it for another day........ Looking forward to how this runs, 18" Rebel prop likely too big but the 17" wasn't available yet so we'll try the 18 and see what it does, rpms etc. Will try the posting thing again. Should be a matter of just post and attach like email but isn't so. I suppose this will be the largest " legal / stock " outboard motor possible on a v21. This and the Merc Optimax 200 I believe most powerful 200's. |
Sweet mota. I wish I could make a raft-up you guys sure have some sweet machines. We would have to do some side by side testing..
Florida law states that it is unlawful for anyone to exceed the weight, persons or hp capacity on vessels under 20'. http://myfwc.com/boating/regulations/#nogo Luckily my V-20 is 20' plus and therefore not bound by the constraints of "THE MAN". Ironically, the Merc 250 and the 200 Opti's are identical in displacement and weight. Both heavier than the E-tec. So since I have it hung on a 30" bracket, and GenieAye has nearly your exact setup, I think it safe to assume yours will be damn near PERFECT. Congratulations. Now get er done.. |

Yup.... question is...do we believe it? :you: |
Status - previous motor off, sold, gone along with the oil tank and wire harness.
New to me 200 HO to be rigged. Likely done by early next week, latest. And yes.............I'll figure out again how to post pictures, to show before and after." My installer says the new 18" prop is too big - need to drop to 17" so we'll first test, then swap if needed to hit the approx. 5,700 WOT rpm. range. |
you do not have to run to top end of the rpm range. I would like to have a rebel 15.25 x 18 instead of my 19--it would be perfect IMHO. Iam happy with my 19, but the 18 would put me just right.
I even ordered up the flag sticker and put it on--looks awesome--will post picture later when on home puter. reelapeelin----we might just have to meet in the middle--lol |
I know this isn't exactly pertinent but, I got a friend with a big block e-tec on a Vicious tunnel hull. He is running a crazy large prop. 32P I think.
He is running 60 at 2800 rpm. He claims that the e-tec has so much more ballz down low it is unreal. No problem using the grunt to pull a big wheel. Your top end should jump by at least 10MPH and do it while sipping the dino juice.. 60 hp jump and all that low end grunt..should put you in the club. |
Quote:
Wow!!...can't wait to find out!!!...this going to be an interesting conversion...:sly: |
Quote:
Yes they have alot of bottem end grunt, but its that grunt that can hurt them. |
I hear that Ferman, that is the cause of a lot of P/H failures of all brands, truth be told. You know Bajamerc/ Kevin from the deisel forums. He is the owner of the tunnel boat mentioned. He and his brother put an E-tec on a short 15" midsection and grafted a sportmaster to it. The Lake Tarpon Boys gotta E-tec fetish. LOL He can still turn the RPM, the boat is a lot lighter so he isn't really taxing the motor and lugging it per se. He just wants to be able to cruise 80 at 4000 rpm and go all day on 25 gals of fuel. Currently averaging 6 MPG as I understand it.. :sly:
Plus he added I-command gauges.. Which I like better than the SmartCraft.. |

Yep, I know who he is. He's asked me some diesel and other questions before. The ETEC has proven to be VERY picky on prop set-up, but his light weight hull I'm sure makes a big difference. |
I use 2nd generation Evinrude dealer / service called J&B Boat in Westville, NJ.
Master Tech, owner tells me I should use the 17" and run to the upper end of rpm. So, first I'm going to try the new 18" Rebel SS prop the seller had on hand, then likely drop to the 17" if required. I hear ya Genie - if you're happy with your set up, then why mess with it. I'm interested to test and report on my findings. |
