 Congrats willy.
Look through the modification posts Blue Runner has started. Yours looks a little more apt for the situation. |

 1971 Bertram B28 Fly Bridge
28 long, 11 wide Repowered 2003 with PCM 350 300 hp fuel injected (throttle body) with 258 hours. At same time new transmissions Borg Warner Velvet Drives - new 1 1/4 stainless shafts. At same time new epoxied aluminum 165 gallon main tank and two epoxied aluminum 40 gallon saddle tanks for extended range. Lee Senior Out Riggers New this year complete fresh water system, tank plumbing and hoses and pump. New this year, 16000 BTU air and heating system. And according to a very popular and much appreciated Marine Surveyor here in the Jersey Area, known as Dunk on the Bass Barn and the Hull Truth That I hired. Don't run into any oil tankers on the water you might sink them and cause a catastrophe. Solid across the board, minor moisture in the fly bridge deck about 18" square, likely been that way for 20 years and is hard as a rock. Floors, cockpit, fore deck, cabin walls, and around windows dry as a bone and solid. Hull bottom solid no blisters, all bulk heads solid and dry and still tabbed to the hull as the factory did it. |

And Blue Man, I was reading your Mod post and I think you have the numbers askew, you want a two man crew and four petite super models.
The second man is really only there to take the helm for your long breaks. And forget the heater what you need is a set of good quality fishing bibs and boots, in a size xxxxl. Then you get into them, you take one petite, facing whichever way you are in the mood for and slide her in too. What other heat would you need brother, I'm just saying! |

Willy i am very impressed!
We need a "bow on" shot. That way we can judge if we can even pretend its a gigantic V20, :bat:. |

 Don't think it's a V - Closest I got now

 Congrats!!!
I was going to say check the gas tanks cause there was a guy that had one and they used fiberglass tanks in them, New gas eat them to hell, so he had to pay something like $10K to remove his teak deck and replace tanks then rebuild the deck! Good luck with her! |

And to Dave (Spare) and Ozzie (Old Coot) thanks for the advise and support.
Now get your dead arse's up here and go fishing! |

You going to love that 10" screen on the GPS, I love mine!! I have the newer 4210 in mine and its great!! I have the radar and sounder built all in to mine as well.

Willy, my dad and my brother went to Venezuela back in 1989. And they fished a bertram identical to yours. They fished there for 14 days, diesel fuel on the water there was .04 cents a gallon, and they had and average 40 shots a day on white marlin and caught an average of 30 whites a day. Almost 75% of there charter fleet were bertrams. Very nice boat my man. She is beautiful!!! I've always had a soft spot for bertrams.

Went to Mexico with my Wife and Brother and Sister in law this past March.
In the marinas ther there were multiple's of two different boats being used by the charter Captains. Phoenix 29's and Bertram 28's. They run some tough sea's there, went out on a charter and saw first hand, the Captains said these boats were tougher than nails and held up. I tried to find a good Phoenix here, had a survey done on one in Mass. and checked out four here in Jersey. All five were rotted to death. Such a shame. Bertrams I checked, and there were a few, had occasional issues here and there. None, even a decade or more older had anywhere near the rot or delamination problems the Phoenix's all had. |

Looks like you came to your senses and forgot about the chris craft, and stepped up to the big leagues. That's ALOT of boat for a 28 footer. Hate to hear you got rid of fishbones after all of the work you had just done to it, but your in another class of vessel now.

 Fantastic Willy
May God give you many years of health and happiness to enjoy your Bertram you deserve it ! |

nice ride willy, i used to deck on a 31 that was a 6 pack dive boat. actually liked the layout of the 28 better, cockpit seemed bigger because of the raised engine boxes on the 31. as mj mentioned, big plus having the tanks replaced already.
congrats, just don't forget your buds with monkey boats |

congratulations willy. use her well. she's beautiful.
	 |

 Good boat Sir!
	 |

Willy, I knew she was coming from your email.. She's a beauty for sure. I've always loved the Bertrams..They just say elegance. As a matter of fact, the only thing I see missing from yours (and I'm sure it will be installed soon enough) is the stripper pole. I mean.....really... ya gotta have the basic necessities.
So, when are we going out? :hide: |

Thanks guys for all the kind words, all of you fellows are welcome anytime. but i think you already know that.
I am making arrangements to go to Cape May, about three hours by car and to meet the previous owner and take possession of the Bert. Will have I believe about a six hour run to get her up to my home waters. Only real concerns are fuel related. The fellow just used her basically as a condo on the water. The two forty gallon saddle tanks were filled last season and not used. The main 165 tank is from May this season and he does not use any fuel treatment. It is about half full. Boat has run four times the past two weeks, three times with either me or the surveyor and everything ran great off the main tank. I ran the boat with him at sea for about an hour and a half. Surveyor for about half an hour. |

 WOW, that was some upgrade!
Best of luck with your new boat! rkc |

I for one have had pretty good luck with fuel, but you might want to bring a few extra filters with you, and make sure that the water separator is working good! This new gas loves to absorb water, especially in a boat that lives in the water! Add some sta-bil any way to help it go thur, I run it a few times a season just to help it stay clean.

:hi:I was gonna ask you, If you saw a poor boy with indiana plated in the parking lot holding a snoopy jr fishing pole, would he get to go ondabote?

Thanks Bob, give you a call later
And Smoke a Po Boy is a sandwich, someone from the V20 Site is a friend and always welcome. |

It may have been a floating condo but it looks set up well for fishing. The tuna bite is on! Now you just need to drop a couple grand on offshore trolling gear!
	 |

Great boat. Congrats!! Have a ball with her.
	 |

 Thanks all you fella's.
