You SUCK!
Reely tho, hope you kill em. They've been stacking them up like cordwood lately. Makes me want to go bad. Good luck. |
Did a tuna trip last year out of Manteo with 5 friends. We each ended up with over 50 lbs of MEAT. I made alot of friends giving away 30 Lbs of it to avoid buying another cooler.
It was the only time in my life where I didn't want to grab the reel because I knew what I was in for the next 15-30 minutes. Tight lines |
You may be able to get a few wahoo while you're at it. Thats my personnal favorite.

Good luck Rob ... on your way home stop off at exit 63 garden state parkway so ya can drop off a ten pound slab to lighten up your cooler.

Finally a chance to get some pictures off the cameras....all in all a very decent trip... total count was 17 yellow fins, nice 20-30 lbs fish and one 80 or 90 lbs Big Eye tuna.
Boat left at 5:00 am....the plan was to troll around out where they marked some the night before and find them concentrated enough for some jigging or maybe even try some poppers.....never really found them thick enough to stop trolling but the action was consistent enough to keep everybody interested. The big eye seemed to be a real bonus as the captain and mate were down right excited to see a big eye come in. Technically the trip was billed as a giant blue fin trip and they tried real hard to get us one. (can keep one per boat up to 73") If we had of nailed one of those the trip would have been epic. The only other downside would be that because we were sort of targeting 300 lb+ fish the tackle was pretty heavy...would have been a whole lot more fun catching all those yellow fin with some lighter tackle. We came home with at least 200 lbs of tuna loins which made my neighbors and everbody else i know quite happy. Here's some pics and a video of the big eye coming in....I need to find somekind of windscreen for this flip camera that I have becuase the wind noise is rediculous and it really wasnt even that windy. http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/c...3-23223918.mp4 http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...20Tuna/009.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...20Tuna/014.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...20Tuna/003.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...20Tuna/023.jpg |

Sure enough looks epic to me! Big eye was a nice bonus. Question - how low in the water would the V sit with a haul like that on board?:sun:

That's a nice fish!!! I did catch some small tuna off of Cancun a few years ago not even in the same league as those beauties.
