Got my 14 McKee up for sale. I've got a bigger boat coming. Too many details to list out here. 60 Mercury, runs like a sewing machine, less than 50 hours since power head rebuild. Boat, motor and trailer $2800. Hers the photobucket link to pics http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n...os/McKee%2014/. In Goose Creek, SC

I walked into Spare's backyard the other day...I was in 10' of this motor before I realized it was RUNNING...so quiet and that was w/the cowling off...the foot was down in a barrel, so that damped the exhaust much like it would afloat...sweet runnin' motor...

Here's Spare out on Charleston Harbor this past spring

And the 60 runnin' away bustin' the chop w/no probleemo!!...

Spare-

Don't want to derail, but had couple Q's on the duraback (we can start a new thread if you want). Anyway, how's it holding up? I know you wanted to just do the inside once and not have to worry about it but never heard how tough the stuff really was. Would you do it again? And how many gallons did it take you? I am working on my 14 this winter and just saw your pics. Looks like the perfect solution, but have no idea the cost.

Thanks.

The durabak did exactly what I wanted it to do, I ended up using more than I thought I was, mainly due to the company sending a miss mixed batch and told me to tint it with black(ended up gray). It is a pain to clean. Usually I stop at the car wash and hose it out, or take a pressure washer to it. I usually spray some cleaner/bleach on it and let it soak in, then hose it out. It looks ready to go afterwards. My boat had a lot of screw holes that were filled in, I didn't want to spend a lot of time blocking out the inside of this boat, so i went with the durabak. It is aggressive, I've walked on it bare foot, but I prefer wearing shoes. You're not going to slip on it. To do a 14 Mckee, I'd say you're going to need two gallons, mine took at least that amount, but I had two bench seats, and a casting deck that got painted as well.

Bump this one up for a sweet boat.

They say that after a worldwide nuclear war the only things left will be cockroaches, radiation, and old McKee Craft hulls.

Money talks and BS walks. I've had nothing but marathon runners lately.

sold the McKee Saturday. even took it out on one last fishing trip before I met the new owner to sign the paper work. Caught three nice speckled trout, two of which ended up in a frying pan. I ended up selling it for my bottom dollar, so i kept the bimini top off of it. The bimini is an original 17 Whaler frame(pvc coated aluminum tube) with new weblon type white canvas, I've got a boot to go with it. Asking $350 for the bimini. I put it up once when I got it back from the canvas shop, but never used it.

Congrats spare. The buyer got a sweet little boat. I've sold off just about all my projects to pay down the repairs on my V. Still have a 18 Southporter/Offshoreman project hull in the yard on blocks. Ready to give it away to make room.

spareparts 05-29-2012 07:50 PM

I've got to finish the 16 Mckee now, then back to the V, I've got a standing offer in on a 18 SeaCraft, I've got to get the V done before I buy another boat
