Look on Craig's List...I've been keepin' an eye in there for some stuff for the '84 and I'mm seein' all kinda stuff like the T & T unit yer lookin' for...I fixin' to pick up a bimini top for 100 bucks tomorrow... |
I have seen this posted on the Norfolk Craigslist, but I am thinking it is your listing, if not give him a call, money talks.
|
Yea that's my post on Craigslist. I had one for the motor but my uncle snatched it from my dads house last for scrap aluminium without me knowing it. I'm a little bent about that.

good luck with finding any of that old trim stuff, when you do find it, it probably won't work, your best bet is a CMC tilt bracket http://cook-mfg.net/cart/index.php?m...5893853bd38284
its rated for 130 hp(propshaft), your 135 makes around 115 propshaft. Unless you have a lot of attachment to that old 135, you can find later model 88spl/90/115 V4 Johnrudes fairly cheap. The later model ones will run better on today's fuel, has a better water pump. Most of them come with power trim, lots of parts interchange as well. Keep your 135 heads and carbs if you want to make a hot rod out of it |
Just remember that this is a low ,low budget build. I have 2 135's laying around and a 115. the 135 that im gonna put on my V has super super super low hours on it the motor is still running very very close to factory compression and I am the third owner my dad being the second owner and his best friend being the original owner. I know were this motor has been and how its been treated. It is a flawless 76' 135. I took it off the original boat it was set up with and put the motor on seadrive bracket so I had to seperatre it from its original T and T bracket. Im now removing it from the seadrive and bolting it to this V20. I might say the hell with it and put it on the manual tilt bracket my other 135 is on. and really bring it back old school

did you get my PM?
|
Yes I recieved your pm. thanks for the help i will call him.

I'm still looking for this item. I don't just need trim and tilt assembly. I need the whole bracket and trim and tilt assembly. I tried to use a 84' bracket but the pivot shaft on my 78' is 1/16 smaller. I will take just the bracket if someone has a old v-4 and then buy my own trim and tilt assembly. Thanks again

Some of these might work for you...

And you think the setup from a V6 88 150 will work? I got pics of it today. I am almost positive the electric motor will need to be replaced. But a side from that I did get a decent look at it today. I also got pictures but it will take me a little while before I can post pics.

Is that motor a 20" or a 25"?

25"

wow she is eat up. Have you hooked it up to a fresh battery to see if it works? The problem is they changed the size off the main pivot shaft. My 76 has a smaller spline and small diameter main pivot shaft than new motors in the 80's. I have a 85' transom bracket that i can put on my 76' but my 76' pivot shaft is 1/6 inch smaller creating slop in the shaft. This part is the only thing im missing to have all parts needed for my build.
|
That is why I am not rebuilding it. I figured $150 for the whole thing would be a good deal to who ever needed the lower unit.
|
kracker, are you talking about the pivot tube (side to side swivel) or the tilt tube (up and down)? If it's the the tilt tube, maybe you could have a machine shop turn some sleeves to fit over your tilt tube to make it snug in the '85 transom bracket. Heck, that might even work if it's the pivot tube. I don't know enough about how all that stuff fits together...

STILL LOOKING FOR THESE PARTS. This is all I have left to get to have have all my motor parts. Once again if you have any leads on a old mid 70's burn up v4 with trim and tilt parts please let me know. I might be looking for a CMC bracket also if anybody has one laying around. Thanks
