C'mon RAP, live a little. Buy her for 7, swap yo new Hondo on it, and sell your old one with the newer merc. You end up 3500 out of pocket and have newer hul with flotation, washdown, and built in supermodel seating...

What year is the Merc, looks older than the boat???

Re: The elusive V-21

Thanks for the encouragement, guys...thought about the Honda to 21 swap, but pretty sure 21 takes a 25'' shaft...mine's a 20''er...so fidn't dit ;) ...

Lesterus, 150 tops out at 42 mph at WOT...cruises at 32 mph at 4400 rpms...pretty happy w/ performance overall and REEL happy w/ fuel-sippin' aspect... ;) ;D ...

RP:

I'M GOING TO SEE THE BOAT TODAY, IF IT IS MIN GOOD COND. I'M GONNA GET IT, GUY SAYS IT BELONGS TO A FLORIDA MARINE PATROL GUY AND IT IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF, BUT YOU KNOW DEALERS, ALL CARS THEY HAVE, BELONGED TO AN OLD LADY THAT ONLY TAKE'M OUT ON SUNDAYS....... (YEAH RIGTH!!!!).

NOW, WHAT THE NORMAL COMPRESSION FOR AN OUTBOARD?

AS TO THE ENGINE, I BELIEVE IS THE ORIGINAL SINCE THIS MODEL AND YEAR IS LISTED WITH MERC 150.

IF IT IS TRUE THAT IT BELONGS TO A FMP GUY, THEY USUALLY MAINTIN THE BOATS IN GOOD SHAPE, PLUS, BEING ALL DAY IN A BOAT, THEY DO USE THEIR BOATS MUCH .

reelapeelin 10-11-2006 03:43 PM

Re: The elusive V-21

Lesterus...you oughtta get that boat if it checks out...compression test and PUT IT IN THE WATER AND RUN IT...

Also check the lower-unit oil...if it was me, I'd pay a Merc Tech to go over it and see what he finds...may help in negotiating price ;) ...

Re: The elusive V-21

WENT TO SEE THE BOAT, NEED A LOT OF COSMETIC WORK TO PUT IT IN THE CONDITION THAT MINE IS IN, BOY ,THOSE COLOR PICTURES CAN REALLY FOOL YA,
IT LOOKS NEW IN THE PICTURES.

CABIN NEEDS TO BE REWORKED

THE MOTOR LOOKS A LOT OLDER BECAUSE THERE'S NOT
LETTERING ON IT, LEFT WINDSHIELD HAS TO BE REATTACHED,BUT OTHERWISE GOOD COND (NO RUST) AND A FEW GELCOAT SCRATCHES, NO TRAILER, JUST BY COINCIDENCE (I DIDN'T KNOW) THERE IS A TRAILER FACTORY NEXT TO THEM AND THE OWNER IS AN OLD CUSTOMER OF MINE, OFFERED MY A SINGLE AXEL ALUM. RECONDITIONED/USED FOR $900.00

OVERALL IS GOOD/FAIR COND. NO SOFT SPOTS ON FLOORS, ROD BOXES NEED TO BE REPLACED (LOL)

GONNA OFFER $5 K IF ENGINE CHECKS OUT.

NEED YOUR IMPUT.

YEP! IF YOU DON'T WAX THE BOAT EVERY 6 MONTHS IN COUPLE OF YEARS IT'S BEAT UP AND FULL OF SPIDER CRACKS.

THIS BOAT HAVE NO CRACKS AND IT'S JUST DULL, BUT HAVE SOME GELCOAT SPITZ THAT HAVE TO BE FIXED.

I'M WAITING FOR A FRIEN THAT HAS SOME OUTBOARDS
THAT HE BOUGTH FROM CUSTOMS TO SEE IF HE HAS ANY FOR ME, 2002-1999, WHEN HE TELLS ME WHAT HE HAS I'M GONNA POST THEM HERE.

DO YA THINK 5K,S IS OK FOR THIS BOAT.

MY FLOOR IS GIVING UP AND I DONT WANT TO WAIT, I THINK I CAN GET 4500 FOR IT BECAUSE IS IN GENERAL GOOD SHAPE

Re: The elusive V-21

I paid $6500 for my 94 V-21 w/ the 94 Yamaha 150 that crapped out on MJ. But it had kicker motor, new 2005 trailer, new controls, new oil tank, new stainless prop, new water separator, new guages, outter hull painted with awlgrip, new rub rail, new deck plates, and new transom hatches.

It came from Florida, but the guy before me had it in Virginia and did all of the work above before selling to me.

I think $5000 - $5500 would be a good price.

He he he...nope...I just told it like it was. I said I am willing to pay $6500 so its $6500 or nothing! He apparently liked the $6500 better than "nothing". 8)

BLU:

I OFFERED 5K THEY CAME BACK WITH $5,500, I'M GONNA WAIT TO SEE IF THEY COME DOWN BECAUSE THIS THING HAS NO TRAILER AND NEED COSMETIC WORKS: POLISING, NEW STRIPPING (IT HAS NONE)
PLUS IT HAS SOME KING OF REPAIR IN THE BOW GEL COAT. YOUR FOR THAT PRICE SOUND A STEAL.

THIS BOAT IS PROBABLY HAVE TO BE PAINTED (OUTER HULL) AND THAT'S MESSY AND EXPENSIVE. I HAVE TO CONSIDER IF I WANNA GO THRU IT.

OH, ONE MORE THING, STOP POSTING PICS OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL BOAT!!! PLEASE. IT MAKES ME WANNA WORK OVERTIME.

For $5500 I be all over it!! if the motor ck'ed out!!

Don't wait to long!!

But I know mind fixing things!! Just look at all he stuff I had to do to mine!! and I am not even done.

Sell the V20 with no trailer, and use that one for the V21 or get trailer with the money you get from the sale??

I love my boat but I am O so wanting a change.

MC:

THERE IS A SAYING IN CUBA: "WHEN THINGS ARE MEANT
FOR YOU, NOBODY CAN TOUCH THEM", THAT MEANS IF IT IS MEANT TO BE, IT WILL.

THIS IS NOT THE SEASON TO SELL A BOAT, AND PEOPLE DOWN HERE LIKE TO BUY BOATS READY FOR FISHING SO I DONT THINK IS GOING TO SELL THAT QUICK, I'LL WAIT TILL FRIDAY AND SHOW UP WITH 5K CASH IN HAND, AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

ANOTHER THING IS THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SELL MY BOAT WITHOUT A TRAILER, BEING A 1978 YOU HAVE TO
MAKE PEOPLE CONFORTABLE, IF YOU GIVE THEM ANY REASON NOT TO BUY IT, THEY WONT.

AS FOR DOING THINGS MYSELF, I LOVE TO, BUT I'M 50 YEARS OLD AND HAVE CHILDREN 6 & 11 AND THEY TAKE A LOT OF MY TIME.

KEEP YOU POSTED.

LESTERUS

P.S. MY FRIEND HAS SOME OUTBOARDS THAT BOUHT FROM GOVERMENT, I'LL CHECK WHAT HE HAS AND WILL POST THEM IN THE SITE.

Re: The elusive V-21

Thanks Lesterus! My V-21 looks all pristine in the pics, but in person you can tell she's been used. A nick here a scrape here, but it made to be used and that's what I do. As long as its safe and fishes well, I'm happy.

Also, I know what you mean about painting a boat. No, not too bad of a job if you have the time but like you said you have 2 young children and I'm assuming you work most likely a full time job so I know how that is. My girls are 6 and 9. I know I wouldn't want to have to paint a boat right now.

Re: The elusive V-21

WEEL, I'M FORTUNATE I HAVE MY OWN GIG, AND TRY TO WORK FROM 9 TO 4.30 BUT TRAVELING TIME IS ABOUT AN HOUR BACK AND FORTH,MIAMI IS HEAVILY OVERCROWDED AND ON TOP OF THAT SOME PEOPLE DRIVE AT 95 MPH AND OTHERS DRIVE AT 20 MPH, GO FIGURE, BUT ALL WITHOUT EXCEPTION ARE ON THE CELL
OR PUTTING MAKEUP OR EATING SH....T WHILE DRIVING.

THE MAIN PROBLEM FOR ME PAINTING A BOAT IS WHERE TO DO IT, WE DO NOT HAVE HUGE OPEN SPACES AND IF THE CATCH YOU SPRAYING A CAR OR A BOAT, YOU'D HAVE TO SELL IT TO PAY THE FINE. THEREFORE YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A MARINA AND THAT'S WHERE BIG BUCKS COME TO PLAY.

WHADAYA THINK, GO FOR IT AT 5K'S?

Re: The elusive V-21

i,d be all over it for 5 g's. but i dont mind scratches like blue said, it not gonna stay new forever. i have a 73 jeep c-101 (comando) that i bought in clewiston several years back. thing was nice. mild lift, 33"tires, and brand new paint. we were riding one day and the trail got narrow. could hear the awful sound of brush scrathing paint. wife said back up, ur gonna scratch this thing all up! i turned hard right and floored it. took off thrue the woods like a bat outta hell.only took a minute or twwo till the fender was wrinkled and she was completely covered in scratches.since i got that outta the way, the jeeps been a lot more fun. now, i dont worry about scrathing it anymore!

Lesterus...I'll give ya two weeks to think it over. I'll be sdown aobut 11/1. I'll just pull her home on that perty lil trailer she's on in the pics.

On a more serious note, you think she'd buff out or is it too far gone?

IT'S GOT A BIG MARK IN THE GELCOAT IN THE BOW STARBOARD SIDE, LOOKS LIKE A BIG BUMP THAT SOMEBODY REPAIRED POORLY, BUT THE COLOR NEVER MATCHED, I THINK WITH GOOD CLEANING AND BUFFING YOU CAN GET 80% OF THE HULL IN TRACK.

I'M GONNA GIVE THE GUY A CALL ON MONDAY TO MAKE A FINAL OFFER. LET YOU KNOW.

LET YA KNOW ON MONDAY.

HAVEN'T CHECK THE ENGINE, IF THEY AGREE WITH MY OFFER I'LL CHECK IT.

OH, I'VE NOTICE YOU'D MENTION SOMETHING ABOUT THE TRAILER, SHE'S NOT SITTING ON A TRAILER AND THE PRICE DOESN'T INCLUDES TRAILER.

NOW, DON'T GET ME WRONG WHEN THEY REACH 18 I'M READY TO START ALL OVER, BUT WITH MEDICARE THIS TIME.

Lesterus,

I with you. I am 51 with a 14 year old and an 11 year old. Both daughters. I had a 5 year starter marriage starting at 22 with no kids and then 7 years of rising Hell before marrying again. So got a late start in the kid arena. Love em to death though.
