Did the boater thing on Sat.

As it is the slow season for fishing and I still have bluefish in the freezer, thought I would take the boat out just to take the boat out like boaters do. So we went out to the islands on buzzards bay and found a cove. Swam and had refreshments. It was OK, the dog and I would rather be catching fish. But after a long day, I didn't have to clean fish and the boat wasn't dirty.

Yes sir, it does look a lot like Tarpaulin Cove for some reason.

What the pictures didn't show was that there were actually many other boats here. We would have liked a little more seclusion...

Nice pics.....that's the way to do it sometimes. It is funny how it always looks less crowded in pictures than in real life.

Looks like a geat spot and beautiful weather!

Fishing has been slow here also

chumbucket 08-01-2011 03:30 PM

That's a pretty popular place for doing exactly what you were doing. I've seen it a lot worse.

looks like a great time. last 2 weeks have been bad weather, painting outside of house, & moving daughter home from college next weekend. i'm jealous

"bluefish in the freezer" gotta be a northern thing, unless you were refering to a bait freezer.

SkunkBoat 08-01-2011 07:28 PM

Agree....Nice to relax sometimes and not catch fish as opposed to work your *** off and not catch fish

Hehehehe...bait freezer..wouldn't waste the space in there either...

Road King Cole 08-02-2011 05:13 AM

I just happen to love bluefish on the grill.

lumberslinger178 08-02-2011 08:04 AM

great time there .... I noticed a smug on the bow ... let me tell ya how to work that outta there:clap::clap::clap:its kinda like a good massage...

chumbucket 08-02-2011 08:29 AM

Forget the Bluefish RKC. From that spot you're almost on good Fluke fishing grounds. Head about 2/3 of the way over to Martha's Vineyard (in the background in those pics) and set up a drift with some Fluke rigs. You can thank me later.

call me wierd, but I don't care for Flounder or Fluke. I OD'd on them growing up.

Much rather have bluefish!!!!

and yes Lumber, you would have a heyday on my boat!!!!

I dont mind the occasional bluefish on the grill but over flounder?????yes sir you are an enigma.....

nipper 08-02-2011 11:12 AM

Another enigmatic guy here, RKC. I have never cared for flounder. Used to go out in the pram in Scituate (Mass.) Harbor and pull up keepers by the dozen when I was a kid. We'd bring them home in time for lunch (depending on tide level), Dad would fillet them, Mom and grandmother would cook them up, but I would just pick at them. Still do not care for flounder, but I love bluefish which have been properly gutted and bled immediately after being caught and then grilled.

Your boat looks great, RKC. That white bottom paint is really nice.

Road King Cole 08-02-2011 11:33 AM

Thanks Nipper.

I think Bluefish is a very tasty fish. I had a buddy that would catch them and just drop them off at my house (no bleeding or gutting), they were fine with me. Now I will just cut their tails to bleed them out after being caught, seems good enough so the wife even likes them. (actaully it was MJ who told me to do this).
