Yep, it hopped up on this trailer and tailgated my truck all the way back from NJ...

Actually Capt Pete made me an offer on this '84 I couldn't refuse...and I can't thank him enough for hookin me up...made the offer back in the Spring when he and Michelle came down for the Charleston Get Together and we've been in touch about it from time to time since...transom seems solid, floor decks, bow deck, too...only softy is the gas tank hatch, so like Willy said, this will be a good 1st fiberglass project...

Anyway, THANKS, Pete...oh, and NICE TRAIN set!...!:train:...LMFAO!!...:you:

chumbucket 07-20-2011 05:35 AM

Did Momma say you could keep it if you promised to feed it and clean up after it? :hi:

Reel is back in the fold. I guess I don't need to remind you to take lots of progress pics.

captpete13 07-20-2011 05:51 AM

wow you didn't wast any time getting that motor off. Did you tie that thing to your garage to get it off the trailer? It was my pleasure to hook you up with the boat. I know it is in good hands. I didn't know if you liked the train set or not but I will keep you in the loop as I get more. I was thinking about that motor you were telling me about. If it runs good you should just pull the powerhead and keep an eye out on ebay for someone with a similar complete motor that has a blown powerhead. And just swap yours on. I did the same thing just the other way around. Any 150-200 from 1986-1995 and 225 from 1986-1991 will work.

draglink 07-20-2011 06:14 AM

Whew...had me worried, I was afraid I was gonna see a couple pics of Snookie:you:

Lookin GREAT!! More info...what motor? Black Max 200? Looks like a great boat and a fun project

RidgeRunner 07-20-2011 06:42 AM

You sly dog. Congratulations. I got a 200 Merc in the barn.
What you gonna name her?
"Reelapeelin III" OR "Retirement Plan":beer:

phatdaddy 07-20-2011 07:13 AM

nice project, what do you need for that motor? i have the original 83 150 that came on my boat.

spareparts 07-20-2011 07:28 AM

I knew you had something going on, you've been too quiet lately. You ready to get that 200 out of my back yard?

The 200 is eggzacklee what I had in mind...I gonna be down in Chucktown not his, but NEXT weekend (31st) and wanna look at that baby....sounds like a good match to me!!...

Destroyer 07-20-2011 08:58 AM

Nice find Reel. (Thanks for helping him out Pete) Great looking project... hope it all works out. I gotta laugh at the number of people that have extra engines lying around (including my 200 Merc also). Just do me one favor.. PLEASE..support that thing better than it is in the back. Yes, it's the little old worry wart popping his head up again, but one good nudge from a car backing up and that boat is on the ground...hopefully with no one under it. Get some cross timbers under the stern. I want to talk with you, not about you. :head:

spareparts 07-20-2011 09:04 AM

didn't you see the cheese under the back support?

Blue_Runner 07-20-2011 09:08 AM

I hear ya BIG DAWG. Back in the game. I like it.

spareparts 07-20-2011 09:09 AM

Hey Reel, that other V at Johnny's is loaded up and ready to head to the dump, let me know if you need anything off of it.

Pipe_Dream 07-20-2011 10:20 AM

Way to go, Reel! Very happy for you.

Road King Cole 07-20-2011 11:09 AM

Excellent!

Was it you who previously told me that 84 was the best year for V's?

rkc

tsubaki 07-20-2011 01:30 PM

The 84 has a lotta good qualities, but I liked the '74 for the 11 years I was in it and the 95 21'er was nice too...I may have said I liked the 84s, but it's tuff to pick a favorite!!...

Destroyer, you're RIGHT about the way she's blocked up right now....not the most solid, but I'll pick up some more blocks, double-stack 'em and lower one course for more stability...I just need to return the trailer tomorrow and had to GEETER DUN w/what I had...a good friend came out and helped me w/it...he was a bit amazed at the whole process!!...

Pete...like said above, my buddy and I tied it off to the storage room wall and on 1st attempt nearly pulled the wall down...wife ran in to get the video camera...LOL!!...so we decided to yank the motor and wet the runners...hung the Merc from a beam, lowered the transom via the jack-stand and off she came!!...wet down the runners good, retied and off the hull came...wife didn't need the video camera after all...I think she was disappointed...LOL!!

Thanks for all the great comments and encouragement, Guys...w/this well of knowledge on this forum, I feel like I can do anything w/this boat...:sun:

captpete13 07-20-2011 08:34 PM

that's great. Looks like this boat really lit a fire under you a$$. I'm happy for you. I can't wait to go fishing out on it.

Hedge 07-20-2011 10:18 PM

congrats on the new addition, I know a good (great, awesome) mechanic of you ever need one.

The Job Site 07-22-2011 02:57 PM

I have a 1989 200 hp Black Max and the starter engaged while moving
and broke the mount for the starter, The mount was cast in the block from what I am told and could be v notched and welded back by a good welder. I have moved on to a Yamaha ox66 225 so mine is for sale and I wanted to get $800.00 for it

How are things coming along? Your recent post about "developments" over the weekend and "not needing a trailer right now" have me concerned, what's up?

Good catch Hedge...things are moving along on a motor for this puppy...got some drivin' to do and work on the boat to make it work, but I'll post that when it happens...

The good news is, the reason I don't NEED a trailer is cuz I GOT a trailer...remember the one I posted "Wish It Was Mine"?...
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...in/NJ71176.jpg
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...in/NJ71173.jpg

well now it is mine thru some more finagallin'...and more drivin the interstate...of boat, motor and trailer I'm 2 for 3 and closin' in...

Speakin of trailerin' down the interstate...while on way to Charleston to sell the Aquasport that was on this trailer, a MORON came off the I-95 ramp and right into my lane to which I had to do a very fast left swerve into the next lane (thankfully I had just checked and knew it was clear)...w/boat on, this trailer never swayed, fishtailed or nothing other than follow the truck at 75 mph...I'm REELY likin' this trailer...

Thanks for askin'!!...

Hedge 08-03-2011 12:36 PM

glad to hear it is all working out for you. The motor thing is just a "minor" issue as far as the boat is concerned.

you have the boat and the trailer, 2/3 there... the other 1/3 (the motor) us probably the most important part.

spareparts 08-04-2011 06:44 AM

I got the motor part taken care of, don't worry about that
