very very nice.....you guys make me want to be a better boat owner.....interesting place for your registration #'s.....I personally like it but I bet some LEO with a hard on could keep you occupied for a while with a discussion about the legality of it.

:clap:Great lookin' V, Charleston!!...well thought out and executed...thanks for all the great pics, but the bow shot is obscured...I can't tell what's atop the bow...is that an elec motor...where do you typically fish in Charleston?...I'm goin' down end of month to move my daughters to a new place out off Rifle Range Rd...Hopin' to get a hook-wettin' session in while there between all the sofa-slingin'!!...

Do you fish Hartwell?

Just stuck a new bow shot, not much better, having to dumb down the photo so I can post it.
I fish out of Hobcaw creek which goes in to the Wando. I haven't been anywhere this year as I am just getting my boat back together. I should be down there that weekend, so maybe we can test out the water.
I keep my boat in MT P so I have never fished hartwell, I have heard the striper bite is good though.

Ahhhhhhhhh I got another fix of that pretty girl! She is a beauty! What kind of performance #s do you get with that Merc?

Thanks for the link!!

Did a test run and with the 19pitch 14.5'' SS prop it runs 44mph on GPS at 6200 rpm WOT. Nice and solid.

draglink 07-06-2011 07:54 AM

Fastest I've seen was almost 53 on GPS, I turn around 5700-5800. That was me alone, no gear and no bottom paint. Now, me and another person or 2 and a cooler I see 48 WOT still turning 5700-5800, bottom painted....I have no top though. Im trying to get more bow out of the water. I think my motor is to high as I start to cavitate to early as I trim up..

CharlestonSC 07-06-2011 01:52 PM

What prop are you using?
And how do you tell about cavitation?
What is it called when you trim up and you can here the prop start to slip and your revs go higher?

draglink 07-06-2011 03:59 PM

You are exactly right on cavitation

Im turning a 14 1/4 X 19 SS

nipper 07-06-2011 04:07 PM

What a great looking boat. It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

I call it tilting the motor up TOO DAMN HIGH.!!...LOL!!...

There is a fine line between where it BITES and where it slips...but you gotta make it slip to find that sweet spot where you'll get your optimum speed w/least amount of foot in the water...
