Yeah Willy, I didn't quite get what was going on in that other thread either. This new class on the forum can be a bit intense at times... LOL

THEFERMANATOR 06-14-2011 03:29 PM

THAT'S A BEAUTY BY ANY STANDARDS! The V-21's are known for soft spots in the floor up close to the cuddy it seems, and I would actually expect to see some soft spots in an everage V-21 from everything I've read and seen on them. That one appears to be a clean boat though and even I would like to have that one in my driveway. And i can't afford a boat right now either.

bgreene 06-14-2011 03:49 PM

Nice looking boat indeed, thanks for the heads up to it.

buckleyjr 06-14-2011 03:54 PM

No soft spots on my V21! Though I did recently find a few spider cracks this year. This V21 is really beautifull - and no bottom paint.

Destroyer 06-15-2011 10:58 AM

 I  want  it... Damn  now  I've :drool:got  drool  all  over  my  keyboard.. <sigh>

nipper 06-15-2011 11:34 AM

Break out the $8500 and the finder's fee for BGA and go get that boat, BGreene. Looks to me like you will never find one better than that and at a very reasonable price.

reelapeelin 06-15-2011 01:19 PM

...some of the best V-21 porn I've seen to date...transom shot is intense!!...

bgreene 06-15-2011 03:41 PM

1st heads up to this listing came from big frank - aka - stinky fingers 25 Grady twin 200 optis'. You can find him on the Bass Barn web site - kayak section.

bgreene 06-18-2011 06:10 PM

I bought this boat.

Destroyer 06-18-2011 10:33 PM

Congrats on the purchase.... may you have many happy hours aboard her. :nice:

bgreene 06-19-2011 04:00 AM

Thanks, and for your assistance along the way

fishnfetch 06-20-2011 06:15 AM

 nice job bgreene!! lovin that looper too. one thing you may want to check, your garmin unit is mounted kind of closely to the compass. if the unit or the wiring is to close, it throws the compass off big time. i had the virtually the same setup in my v when i bought it and ended up having to move things away from the compass. it wouldnt be a problem a guess if you didnt use the compass to navigate but i have heading to and from certain places remembered in my head from over the years and although the compass may not be my primary source of navigation i do still use it. congratulations on patience and persistence paying off. time to get some blood on them pretty decks.

bgreene 06-20-2011 01:52 PM

Didn't check on the compass, thanks for the heads up.

I still use a compass too - when at sea on a dark or misty day, it's a nice reminder - which way back to land !

bgreene 06-30-2011 09:12 PM

Fishing it tomorrow.
Boat is super clean, near new condition. Hull shines, interior exceptional.

Had engine tuned, new water pump, filter, new fuel/water sep, compression perfect on all 6 cylinders. Greased, etc.....mechanic told me the engine is basically new, shows almost no sigh of use. Runs smoothly.

Will eventually take pics.......

I ain't just REEL happy w/my NIKON either...the little fins that make up the lens cover are too flimsy..not a good boating/outdoors camera...not rugged enough...GREAT pics when all working right, though...

Blood that baby when ya can!!...

No soft spots when I bought this boat - and no soft spots now either.
I keep it covered all the time - only time it gets wet, is when I'm fishing.

I keep the hatches and cuddy open for air under the cover, so it doesn't get moldy either.
This is a bit of a classic.......last of the V's...... I've been enjoying it, and plan to install the trim tabs winter into spring.

Blue_Runner 12-02-2011 11:23 AM

Well, while all the V21 experts are assembled in this thread, let me ask this: Any of you V21 people ever removed the fuel tank cover? I want to replace my fuel lines but concerned about removing the hatch because whatever they bedded it in with looks like some tough stuff. Almost like epoxy or something? If you have removed it, how did you do it? Sharp razor knife cut and then pull?

dmoore 02-17-2012 09:42 PM

Soft patch

Man I gotta stop in more often! Dam! Blue I have not had to rip up mine as of yet (don't plan on it since it's a plastic tank) But I think your on the right track with the utility knife....did you tackle it yet? D

dmoore 02-23-2012 10:58 PM

Yeah BR, Fill us in!

bgreene 02-24-2012 05:27 PM

Why are we still chatting on this original posting ?

Don't you all know that I bought this V21, and have been tenderly, and caringly enhansing it's original decent condition ?

You need to go to another post to make idle conversation about dogs, cars, women, food, drinks, and fuel injection systems...............

Why when I was a boy, we didn't have internet. If you wanted to talk with someone, you had to pick up a phone, which was usually black, and had a rotory dial. Yup, that's how old I am. 50.....going on 51.

dmoore 02-24-2012 11:57 PM

You haven't seen a NICE 21 unless you've been to my gallery today...Ha! Ha!

BTW.....Nice 21! : )

The V is a nice looking boat......a " classic boat style" that suggests the idea of " boating" rather than either only fishing extreme hard core, or going very fast, all the time.

Now that I'm " intimate" with the V21, I see where Wellcraft was maintaining strong quality, and where they were apparently taking cost out....wherever it " wouldn't hurt"...
In my opinion, putting a little more money in and marketing that quality might have been a better way to keep the brand, and get a fair retail price for it.

Try to find a similar new, or used boat that offered this combination of space, comfort, seaworthyness to use bay or ocean and nice looks - not many options at all.

If we all provided a list of adjustments to the V21, and implemented into a re build, we'd have one heck of an exceptional boat, not just a good boat, a great boat.

csvencer 02-25-2012 02:30 PM

That brings up an interesting point....why the hell did they stop making them? Was the invention of the eurotransom a killer? I don't think you can find a boat that is as versatile as what we have.

I ask myself that question too: Why did Wellcraft stop making a boat like this?

Some of the comparable boats on the market are the Carolina Classic boats and the Hunt 25' footers that look like v20/21s on steroids. But they are expensive. There has to be a market for this type of boat at a mid-range cost. Instead, Wellcraft makes a boat that looks like a bunch of what other companies offer. They had (have?) a market of people that liked boats like ours: classic styling, carolina flair, family/fishing friendly. They should offer a new V21 model, or better yet, a friggin V25.

The Ray Hunt Boat Company.....they offer a 25' that looks beautiful.

Might be a little more than a Wellcraft, but damn that looks nice.
