1996 V21 for sale needs powerhead

I'm selling my 1996 V21 dual console.
Fiberglass is clean and crack free. Seats great, excellent condition trailer with brakes. 150 Merc outboard threw a rod. Perforated block. Could put a new powerhead on or re-power altogether. Otherwise perfect. New steering gear 2010, blue bimini, seats perfect. Very fresh boat, just needs repower solution. Location Barnegat Bay, Point Pleasant.

Sounds REELY nice, would you say, Reel? ;-)

Post some pics, I'm sure more than one guy here would be interested.

Would like to spring like a panther....gotta hold off!!...:zip:

You reckon he's talking about a Cuddy?...says DC, but I don't think there was a 21 DC...

frankly i'm a bit surprised nobody else asked that question. i have a feeling he's gonna price himself out of the game.

He paid $13,000 for it two years ago and doesn't sound like he's too in touch w/what these boats are goin' for these days...although it's a nice 21 and he's taken good care of it; hope he does well w/it...he might do better fixing or repowering and keeping it...

At this point that is just conjecture.....his ad states to make offers....I think Reel and I agree though that when he see's the kind of money us cheapskates are used to spending he may be dissapointed with the offers that come down the pike considering his initial investment (3 years ago btw i think).....still would love to see some pictures though....says he's gonna take some soon as the boat is down by the water and I guess he is not.

You never know if its as mint as it sounds it could be a deal for someone.

Destroyer 04-02-2011 08:34 PM

i sent him an email last night asking about the boat... no answer so far. I might be interested if we can come to an agreement. (Which means that I'll have a 78 in good condition that will be available at a good price to anyone that needs a boat.) Lets see what falls out of the tree. :head:

Bygracealone 04-02-2011 08:57 PM

I hope it works out for you Destroyer. That would be very nice if it does.

I used to live in So.Toms River, so a trip down there would bring back a lot of good memories, ...and a few sad ones also :( Anyways I'd like to make the trip (79 miles) but I'd love to meet you and perhaps we could go together? Two heads (and opinions) are always better than one. :head:

I was just figuring that I could get some preliminary pics before you burn $50 worth of gas to only find out it's a POS. But it would be great to meet you too. So whatever you want to do is fine with me.

Well, so far there's been no reply. I sent him a second e-mail last night asking him the status etc. Not sure he really wants to sell it. If not I guess my quest for a 21 will continue.

RWilson2526 04-04-2011 03:01 PM

Well he responded to me pretty darn fast....must not like the looks of ya it seems.... following is his email...maybe he figures he might as well get pics first before giving you a call.....At first I thought he might be mad being that Reel said he was out of touch (I shared this email with him last Friday) but it seems he has not logged on since he made his initial post.....damn there's no hiding from us V-20 geeks.

I'll take some pics. I have really been torn about either having the existing motor fixed, having a new one mounted or selling and getting a decent replacement boat used with motor. So I didn't take pics but I'll do so. The right person who can perform the work himself (not pay full retail for the job). Could put together a good boat for himself. I just don't have facilities or skills to do any of that myself. I paid $13000 for it three years ago and got 2 summers from it. It really presents itself as 3 or 4 year old boat. Very clean used to go spectate the kids doing junior sailing. No heavy offshore fishing runs. Probably went out 2 dozen times at most each summer. I'll get to the shore and take pictures and post

LOL Your message to him was 4 hours earlier than my message to him. That gives you first dibs Rob. I won't enter into any bidding wars. (It also explains how you knew what he paid for it..lol) Good luck with the negotiations. :news:

RWilson2526 04-04-2011 04:12 PM

dont worry about bidding....I'm not really interested that much...I do have my eye out for a hull only that I could transfer my goodies over too....bimini and enclosure mostly.....and besides like Reel and I were musing based upon what he paid for it I dont see him letting it go anywhere near my price range.

Nor I, but without some input from him it's all just speculation. In all cases, like I said, you have the right of first refusal.
