Charleston Pictures!!
OK guys..here are pics from Spare's Get-Together this past weekend...I said earlier we called it "Spare's" so if it went in the dumper we could blame him...well not only did it NOT go in the dumper, it DIDN'T go in the dumper BECAUSE of David!!...Photo documentation of Spareparts literally LEAPING TO THE RESCUE to follow...but first...
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0264.jpg Two of the Vs...Vic's and Capt Pete's in the assigned for the weekend parking spaces at the Best Western...turned out to be a great place for those who stayed there and somewhat command central for the entire V-20 Mission http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...DSCN0265-1.jpg While putting in, this little bugger showed up...perfect for chasing Reds across the shallows of Charleston http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0268.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0269.jpg Looks a little tippy, but w/15 HP probably pretty good at it's assigned task... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0270.jpg Pete and Vic (RidgeRunner) holding at the dock... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0274.jpg Here comes Rob's boat and now the interesting part...w/Willy on the bow-line, and motor warming up, suddenly it starts running faster and faster and FASTER...we're watching it rev up too high and suddenly outta nowhere, SUPER-SPARE leaps into action!!...he had that top off quicker than a stripper w/a C-Note in her G-String!!...f http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0274.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0276.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0277.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0278.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0280.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0282.jpg Even got the attention of one of the locals... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0286.jpg Spare knows what he's doin' (good darn thing SOMEBODY DID) and gets the unruly Yammer back under control... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0289.jpg Still haven't heard exactly what caused the problem, but it wouldn't shut down w/the key as the revs went outta SIGHT!!...anyway, Spare truly saved the day(and Rob's whole trip: possibly his motor as well)...the irony; Spare just HAPPENED to be working a job at the dry-stack at Shem Creek where we were putting in...slim chance he'd be there, but there he was...good to see ya, Man!!... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0300.jpg Underway idling outta Shem Creek the guys are ready for any adventure to arise...sorry about the photo repaet http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0300.jpg Possible result of too much wobble-water while boating...in Charleston??...you gotta be KIDDIN!! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0303.jpg Some of the local beauties... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0314.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0313.jpg Love the name...and here's one you might like, CB http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0311.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0316.jpg More to come inna little while...I gotta go raid the fridge...all this boating is makin' me horny...I mean HUNGRY... |
:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::c lap:
Keep em coming!!!!! |
Yeah, that Hinkley is pretty sweet. Good pics so far. Keep 'em coming reel.
|
W/me ridin' w/Vic in his SUPER DELUXE CC, I'd better get pics if this darlin' while I can...idling around waiting on me to park the truck...this is Saturday Morning using the Remley point Ramp...still windy conditions convinced us running across the harbor maybe not the best idea...
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0319.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0320.jpg Pulling away from the ramp, Rob's V seems to be a tad stern heavy...hmm... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0338.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0329.jpg Taking on a last minute crew member...my oldest daughter, Addie has heard there's boatin' & FISHIN' goin on and she's not about to be left out With the Ravenel(Cooper River to me and many others)Bridge as background, we head out... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0330.jpg |
Im so jealous , I didnt get to come down ,, I should have just cut this foot rite off......damn.
|
WOW, hate I missed it!!!!! Nice pix & play by play Oz. Spare is the man.
|
Good thing Addie decided to hop aboard...turns out SHE'S the one who knows where the fish are...after a little misdirection on my part, we find "The Barge"
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0351.jpg We line up the 3 boats across the front of the barge...in a little while there's excitement comin' from Capt Pete's V...shortly after Michelle is screamin', so now we're SURE they're catchin' fish over there http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0357.jpg One of the causes for excitement...Lee shows off one of about 10 Reds & Black Drums they pulled off that barge...Willy and Rob managed to get one or two and our second trip back to the barge netted a nice Black Drum for me...Vic VERY relieved his boat didn't get skunked on the day...I was feelin a little better as well...those blacks pull pretty good and after the FL trip, I NEEDED a good string-pullin'!! Later on, Vic found this little creek...and Up we went...SKINNY water w/some 8-12' holes we figured to find some FEESH...nope...but Wally Gator greeted us from bankside http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0352.jpg We fished about 15' from him for 20 mins or so before he finally slide on into the water...smilin' the whole time... Vic's little daughter, Melissa was a real trooper the whole trip http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0332.jpg She never complained rather kept the boat clean both days we were out!!...not a speck of anything hit the deck she didn't take care of right away...we all need one of her on board!!... Nice shot of Rob's V stretched out, planed up and doin' what these boats do best... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0334.jpg On way in there' some chop...nothin' Rob, his trusty crew and a good V-20 can't handle http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0362.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0365.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0364.jpg Closer to the ramp, we approach Rob and Vic says there's a boat behind Rob's boat, outta sight...sure enough, David has his great little McKee out in this chop to come find us and let us know the oysters are about ready... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0368.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0369.jpg And off he goes back toward the harbor...he ain't skeered!!... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0371.jpg Back at the harbor, we find a Three Master...don't know the story here, but fun to look at...hey Spare...what goin' on here?... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0373.jpg Here's abetter shot of the Ravenel Bridge... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0374.jpg Named after former Governor Ravenel, whos' son was later busted for an amount of cocaine classified as dealing weight while holding one of the higher state offices(can't recall which)...soon after the news of his bust became public, the white line down the middle of the bridge was immediately named for junior...state politics...gotta love 'em...NOT!!... Meanwhile, back at the marina, Spare has a REEL PURDY mess o' oysters well under control http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0388.jpg While Vic proves once again, he's the Hot Dog KING http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0389.jpg What I didn't get pics of was Vic whippin' out his MAGMA grill while we were anchored in Breach Inlet and cooked up a TON of dogs and brats for all to eat...and EAT they did...we pulled all the boats up on a little sandbar close enough to hand off the dogs from boat to boat...why no pics?...man I was too busy eatin' brats and dogs, THAT's why...good show, Vic!!...they hit the spot!!... So as the oysters get ready, the hungry snaggers gather round the table... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0384.jpg Did I say OYSTERS??... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0395.jpg Lee had told me to have the camera ready and what he was up to...so in mid-shuck, he springs his surprise on Willy!!...and none too soon!!...oyster juice was flyin' as Willy shucked thru the tasty crustaceans like he was in cruise control http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0391.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0394.jpg Finally the group shots... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0397.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0396.jpg And w/those final clicks of the shutters, Spare's 1st Annual Charleston V-20 Get Together comes to an official close...although a relatively small crowd, I proclaim it a rousing success!!... All who showed up had a large time...some, their 1st visit to Charleston and SC I think will agree it was definately worth the trip...we ate good from FINZ to Reds to Sea Breeze Marina where David served up the best oysters I ever had...we'll see ya'll next year for sure...who knows...some of these guys might be permanent SC residents by then...only the future can tell... |
:clap::clap::clap::clap:Thank you Reel for posting those pics.. great job guys...well done!!!!

Great job guys... |
Congrats on a great time guys! Wish I could have made it!! Maybe thee next one??

One more follow-up pic...on Sunday as most headed out to their respective homes, Addie & I jumped on her boyfriend's 17' flats boat and did battle w/some STRONG 25mph winds in search of Ze Red Feesh!!...one thing he did that we didn't was pick up a bucket of live mud-minnows and frozen mullet...although we didn't do anything on the chilly mullet, the minnows produced some pretty nice Reds from the oyster encrusted pilings around various places we went...I don't mind tellin' ya I'm pretty proud of my daughter and all that she's become...but what makes me really beam is her ability to put fish in the boat...she really loves it...dehooks her own fish, baits her own hooks, pulls the anchor, loads the boat, ties her knots...and she can open a 10' cast net on top of schooling menhaden...
1st fish, most fish and largest fish... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90...n/DSCN0401.jpg Her boyfriend readily stated she has better fishing, boating skills than most of the guys he goes out with...I'll shut up now...thanks for enduring my carrying on.... |
no need to feel you should shut up.
Great thread, great job, thanks!!!! um video??? |

Yeah...maybe not the video you have in mind...we were in a fairly good chop runnin back down the Wando...Rob was off our starboard stern and his V was doin' it's thing in the chop...although I was not able to get a steady shot, I tried to get some video of the V's bow bustin the water...I haven't even looked at it yet, but I'll post it up if I can figure out how...PB says pics & video, so it might be pretty easy... |
Charleston trip
Looks like a great time was had by all.. Where did you guys get the cool bibs and V20 t-shirts.
|
GREAT PICS Looks like you guys had a great time ,,
I hope SPARE can put some insight on what caused the out of control RPMs on the yamaha and what he did to stop it ...I have heard of this happening before,, im glad he was not in gear heading back to the dock when it happen... again GREAT PICS |
BTW When I got home yesterday the wife told me to cook up some of the red and black drum I brought home.
I cut it in fish bites and mixed Autry's seafood breader, old bay and Cheyenne pepper. Put them in a bag with the breader and shook to coat, put them in oil and fried. They were something goooood. Wife told me I need to cook some more soon. I froze 3 freezer bags full of what I brought back. P/S The shirts came from some members that do that kind of work a couple of years ago. The Willy BIB I had made and that's me presenting it to Willy. Is kinda cool looking and kept his shirt clean. |
Quote:
Man that's some FRESH FEESH ya done there...House Autry never had it so good!!......how long your drive?...I heard you just wandered away and didn't come back...:sand: |

As much as I hated to do it  I carried my V (inbd/outbd) up to the Volvo guy to see if he can get my hyd cyl's disconnected from the transom shield and do the rebuild on them. I had a great time, I wanted to see everyone Sunday but it just didn't work out. I did see a anchor (like Captn Pete's) in the window of 1 of the marina's I stopped at. His is called the claw and I remember seeing them sold at West Marine and Boaters world. |
Melissa and I checked out of the BW and hit the Battery downtown around 8:00 - 8:15. Capt Pete & Michelle were already gone. Sorry we missed you GarageNC. You guys hold the fishing title, hands down. We placed third.
Walked the piers where the tall ship was moored and hit the Aquarium before departing. Thanks again to everyone, it was like we were a group of old friends. Having sustained Absolutely No Collateral Damage this weekend was sweet. Aside from my navy anchor (off the flats boat) being near useless in everything but puff mud, and a loose nut on the VHF antenna, we were golden. Big thanks to Willy and RWilson for fending the V off the dock at the Marina. I drifted too close to the seawall by not paying attention and nearly crashed the dock trying to get turned about. :cen: Kinda embarassing. I tell Melissa all the time,"Skin grows back, gelcoat costs money." (Well paint in my case;-) |
Looks like a great time! Hey Reel, my daughters name is Addy also(Virginia Addison)!!
|
Hey Lee sounds like you treated that fish RIGHT. Did the room work out alright for you?
Reel, Addie sounds like a fine young fisherwoman. Be sure to keep her BF in check (as if you don't) and remind him often how good he has it. I'm very proud of my 2 daughters as well. Can't wait to get my oldest (13) out this summer. She's been asking me every month all winter long if she can go with us. She wants to get out there and catch some fish! I love it! Sorry I didn't get to meet you guys. |
WOW, sounds like you guys had a great time....wish I could have made it........umm...wait a minute..was I there?
What can be said that wasnt said before....great time.....not really sure if I can classify the weekend as a 3 day party or 3 day hangover....I think maybe both. The 790 mile tow each way was a breeze...no traffic, no mechanical issues and constant conversation with Willy.....He's got 28 hours worth of stories and I still dont think his bag is empty yet....lots of entertaining stuff. The mechanical issues between the tows were enough to make me want to just quit right there and start drinking some more but with everyones head together things were solved pretty quickly....to name a few., engine runs out of control, idle on day one was so bad I thought it was gonna be a washout on day 2, bad switch on the electric winch, cable gets buggered up in the hook on trailer, running lights go out Sat night at ramp....Was like a Greek tragedy. But as they say alls wells that ends well. Thanks for everyones help! And to correct Mr Ozzioe, for the record we boated 6 redfish and lost one. but Lee, Pete and Michelle still kicked our ***....Sunday night back at the campground we picked up some FAT angus steaks and had us a cook out with steaks and grilled redfish.....good eatin. I'm at work now and my *** is draggin'! Hope to see you local guys shortly when fishin' season starts up and definitely in Barnegat Bay this summer.... Having problems getting online at home so I'll get my pics up as soon as I can...I simultaneously was shooting video of Ridge's boat while Ozzie was shooting mine so I'll see if I can get it up here. |

I slowed down at the beginning of the video because I had just wet everybody with windblown spray over the port side gunnel. :oh: Advantage Cuddy with the windshield. My daughter absolutely loves to go over the waves. She was laughing and giggling the entire time. We soon caught up and stayed dry on the downwind leg putting the flare to work. Thanks for posting that up Wilson.

This is a boaters paradise, you can spend your whole life and not know every cut, every stream, and back bay or cut.
And that is just in the Charleston area alone. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ultz/035-1.jpg I have had the good fortune and the honor of being in a few of these shots. Thanks:clap: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ultz/036-1.jpg |

As you can see in the last photo, after finishing my inhalation of a gadzillion sea creatures, the "gift" from my close personal friend Mr. Krinkle got turned around and worn properly as befitting a Super Hero:beer:

Rob started the ball rolling and led the way with this first short Red, there were a couple more shorts and two at least keepers I believe and my big donation of one keeper for the pot.
They taste good blackened, along with a nice Angus bone in ribeye, some baked beans fresh corn and good artisan Italian bread. Some good beer and a few snorts of Evan Williams made the last night for me Rob and Steve a good one in his Class A motorhome at the KOA grounds. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3-19141048.jpg |
