I'm coming IF I"M NOT IN BAHRAIN.
I took a part time gig for a friend of mine, I'd be a private contractror working back in the Navy Yard handling ordering/testing and shipping high solids paint for Navy surface ships the contractor paints over there.

As soon as they get my security clearance I have to travel over there and set up how I want the paints received, stored and applied.

I work only 3 days a week and I'll be home based in Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

I'm only taking the job because the guy that is the govt rep for the ships is a friend of mine, and they are going to pay me REALLY BIG BUCKS for only working 3 a week. They are going to match the salary I was making when I was working with the Govt 5 days a week.

My oldest son can run the business Monday thru Wednesday.

I planning to come if I'm not over there. If I come get to come I need to bum a boat ride.

Where is everyone staying?

Lee

willy 03-05-2011 09:10 AM

Boy. there be some calling the kettle black around these here parts.

Blue_Runner 03-08-2011 04:23 PM

Ok, seems I need to get my foot outta my mouth here...

Just talked to Willy and reviewed the latest on this thread - I didn't mean to insinuate I was having T-shirts printed for the Charleston trip. I was trying to make a "been-there-done-that..." joke about sinking my old boat next the dock on the lake years ago. Sorry if I mislead anyone!!!

Although I do think T-shirts would be awesome! I wouldn't know where to begin on getting some printed. Where is C'peak when you need him???

Looking forward to the trip. Have not made any reservations yet but will be soon. It might just be me coming solo....should know by this weekend.

That's too funny....when I read your post at first I took it the way you meant it....then the T-Shirt orders started rolling in!!! I was thinking that was one ambitious boy doing T-Shirts and all!!!

Destroyer 03-09-2011 08:20 AM

Well, as predicted, the floodwaters are starting in our neighborhood. I have 2" of riverwater at my garage door as I type, and heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow. <sigh> Should be ok, got my watertight barrier across the opening so no water gets into the basement. I want a T-Shirt saying "I missed the first Charleston get together" Size L please.

Blue_Runner 03-09-2011 09:00 AM

I've always been a terrible salesperson. Apparently I should try my hand at selling t-shirts.

I was thinking about you watching the news yesterday....the reporter said "we are here in Lincoln Park, we wanted to go over into Wayne but we were afraid we would get stuck there with the rising water....." I have to admit you did call this one.... Stay dry.

RWilson2526 03-09-2011 12:12 PM

Just got my 14 day non resident salt water fishing license!! woohoo....here's the link in case anyone wants to buy one in advance....$11 + $3 "convenience" fee.....I'm sure you can get one down there somewhere, might even save the $3.....Tried to get one for you Willy but each person has to register themselves with personal info....

willy 03-09-2011 05:56 PM

Thanks Rob, I figured we would stop at a bait shop anyhow so I would get it there.
Any problem with that from SC boys?

spareparts 03-09-2011 07:18 PM

you can get them from Wallmart

btw, this is a pretty cool store for suveniers http://www.palmettomoononline.com/, there are several around Charleston,. the easiest one to get to is in Summerville(on the way in), its real close to the Dicks Sporting goods if you need any tackle. Its a lot cheaper here than most places downtown. If you are into art, check out this guy http://www.jimbooth.com/, he's a local, you'll see his stuff all over town. And Guy Harvey has his own resturant(turest trap)here as well.

Typically being self employeed is awesome, this time, not so much. I have a sub that is only available next weekend to come down and help me finish up a construction job, which has to be done. I'm going to try and knock out the job saturday and try to catch up with y'all sunday, but at this point its wishful thinking.

willy 03-13-2011 10:46 PM

Hope you make it Bruce

Just got back from Suwannee, part one of a double header in the books. Ready for Charleston, be there Thurs. evening. Who's riding with me?

captpete13 03-14-2011 03:49 PM

Suwannee Ga? I was just there at the end of January for Merc school.
We'll see you in Charleston. I'm leaving around 4am Thursday morning. Hopefully we get there with enough energy for some green beer and maybe some corned beef and cabbage at a pub near the hotel.

RidgeRunner 03-14-2011 04:18 PM

The headwaters of the Suwannee are in GA. Then it meanders its way south into FL. and dumps into the Gulf of Mexico. The northern parts are not boater friendly due to obstructions in the water and at least one shoal where the water drops several feet over some rocks.
Sounds like a plan.

spareparts 03-14-2011 05:43 PM

Capt Pete, you didn't end up down at 24k or the Gold Room while you were at merc shool did ya?

lumberslinger178 03-14-2011 06:36 PM

well I'm out ... I had a scoffold plank break on me today and fell 8 ft and broke my ankle.

garagenc 03-14-2011 06:43 PM

Sorry to hear that Lumber, Did you already have reservations? I'm still trying to find out which Best Western everyone is staying at.

How long will you be off your feet?

spareparts 03-14-2011 07:05 PM

get your son to drive, no better place to rest:beer:
