Red Barn No More

Well guys, it never got off the ground and we ran outta $$ to support it...

Note to self...don't ever open a business unless you got 1 YEAR'S financial cushion to carry it until profitability...it was gaining momentum...just too little, too late...

Oh well...what's the next scam??...

RWilson2526 01-29-2011 11:29 AM

Damn Reel sorry to hear that....seems like you gave it one hell of a try though. Tough business..... Hey its only money, now lets get you back in a V soon.

garagenc 01-29-2011 11:31 AM

Sorry to hear that, you put a lot of time and effort in that place, it's a shame. We were all looking fwd to you bringing the food to Spare get together.

The brotherhood here could have helped you out!! We could have bought food ahead of time and when we visited for every BBQ sandwich we bought you would owe us 2 sandwiches.
I am sorry to hear, I'm sure the community liked the food and atmosphere, they will hate to hear this.

tsubaki 01-29-2011 02:19 PM

Dang reel, like everyone else I hate to hear that.
Almost seems unAmerican for a BBQ joint to go out of business.

Ever hear of a liquor store going out of business?

willy 01-29-2011 03:58 PM

Tried to give you a call brother, but your phone won't take any messages.

spareparts 01-29-2011 04:28 PM

so, do I need to find you another V?

phatdaddy 01-29-2011 05:48 PM

sorry to hear that reel. there is a reason only 2 out of 10 succeed, and the crazy part is, its usually not the food. there have been many fresh local seafood places here with fantastic food and they last 4-6 months, but red lobster has flash frozen talapia and fresh water shrimp and people stand in line.. i have always wanted to have a resturant, but heard from friends, there is no harder way to make a buck. i sure you gave it a good try. now you can loose money on boats like the rest of us. i hope you at least got the ice machine out of the deal.

Destroyer 01-29-2011 09:06 PM

<sigh> What can I say.... I am so very sorry for your loss. Having had a few business ventures of my own fail I know the feeling only too well. I wish there was something I could have done to help. It looked like a great place. R.I.P. Red Barn

randlemanboater 01-30-2011 03:57 PM

Dang Reel....sorry to hear that.

Skools Out 01-30-2011 08:46 PM

hate to hear that you could have added stripper poles. heck just added to the name The Red Barn where the Girls wear Little Yarn.

chumbucket 01-30-2011 09:28 PM

Man that sucks Reel. I'm sure it wasn't for lack of passion and real effort to make a go at it. Unfortunately I think it's just a sign of the economic times we're in.
I applaud you for at least giving it a go though. There are times I regret not having tried something like that. You've got the moral support of your family here OZ. Hang tough.

charlie_the_tuna 01-30-2011 11:40 PM

sorry to hear, reel. i was looking forward to checking the place out at some point. that just blows. chin up.

reelapeelin 01-31-2011 06:14 AM

Thanks Guys...all the comments and well wishes appreciated!!...Heck, it was justa matter of time before it went under anyway...sooner or later MJ woulda showed up wearing a V-20 T-Shirt and wiped me out!!...LOL!!...

RidgeRunner 01-31-2011 08:14 AM

Holy crap. That isn't what I was expecting. I can't begin to say just how much we were pulling for you. I know you must be distrought. Hang in there OZ. Something better is right around the corner.

Blue_Runner 01-31-2011 08:24 AM

What can I say? This is not at all what I was expecting to see this morning when I logged in. I really hate to hear it Oz. Looks like you guys were doing everything right, nice place, great food, intelligent ownership etc. Restaurants are a tough biz. I know you'll pull through and figure out something else. Sorry 'bout the RED BARN DAWG!!!

Pipe_Dream 01-31-2011 08:51 AM

Sorry to read that, Reel. Small consolation if any, but in these tough times you are not alone. Keep your chin up and your eyes on the horizon.
