Maybe our last time too?

Maybe my last ride too.....I still owe Destroyer a striper trip as promised so if we can get a day somewhere with no to little wind I wont call this our last time out for the year....but just in case....

Tried trolling for Stripers but it was no deal....there was actually a small craft advisory for the day although it really wasnt that bad out there.....there was no wind to speak of so the bay was dead flat but with that storm that past us last week and sat up in NE there was the occasional 5' swell here and there....

RW, I gotta hand it to you... putting it on may be a PITA, but that enclosure looks great... really dresses up the boat. Don't worry about the Stripers... they aren't going anywhere.... springtime is just around the corner..

I was out there yesterday too....also a no go on the stripers....lots of boats and all were doing nothing....oh well, there is always next season...BTW, I think that is the same tanker I saw while out there.

Probably was....he came out around the hook and then about 2 hours later he came back in up the Ambrose channel....(assuming it was the same boat , sure looked identical) Maybe he was taking her out for a spin! I did hear some talk on the radio that sounded official , something about dumping its tanks or something...wonder if it was that one?

LOL I was going to comment on that also Reel... but forgot to while typing the comment about the enclosure. I agree, it's a wonderful pic!!!

that is a nice enclosure. Do you also have a backdrop or just the front and sides? I got a 3 sided enclosure made for my boat about 2 months ago. Its the best thing I ever bought for the boat. Not only does it keep me warmer it keeps me DRY. I went out fishing for a while this morning but also got nothing. A few slip customers at my marina got some Bass today. The fishing is very spotty and they are out about 1 1/2 to 2 miles.

Yes I do have the back for it too...although Sunday was the first time I actually used it and it was only for about an hour until it got entireley to hot in there. It has little bungee cords with plastic thingies on the end that attach to some floor mounted holders which I havent installed because I am not looking forward to kicking them with bare feet all summer just to be toasty the few cold days I use it.

I think if it was butt *** cold like in the 30's it would definitely be useful having a back but realistically I think the 3 sides is perfect for probably 98% of the boating I do.

if any of ya'll need winter covers, cehck with the local new boat dealers, lots of them have nice storage covers that coem on the new boats, tehy remove them when they are sold, usually end up in the trash. There arn't as many availabel now due to slow new boat sales, I just picked up a couple from the local Sea Ray/ Whaler dealer. I got one for the V, one for the Pro Line, and one for the 14 McKee. They love to get rid of them because it fills up their dumpster

thats exactly what I need to get for my boat. That looks great Rob. With my enclosure the aft ends of the side curtains flap around when I am running at speed. It gets irritating after a while. I figure a back curtain would stop that. Now I know what to ask my wife for for Christmas.

cfelton 11-17-2010 10:19 PM

Thats a great top RW! It really sets off your boat. A top like that would make striper fishin here alot more comfortable. I'm definately puttin that on my christmas wish list. Is it new, and what did it set you back fer? Ive got a top that snaps down to the windshield and comes back about that far but its kinda short for me. I'm 6 ft. tall, and my head rubs the top. Thats exactly what I've got in mind for the''Boneshaker''.

RWilson2526 11-18-2010 06:27 AM

Pete I think the difference is that my bimini has a suppport straight up and down at the back. The aft end of my side curtains have two velcro loops stitched into them that keeps them from flapping around....I would think you could add a support and loops cheaper than a back curtain. (unless of course you really want one!)

captpete13 11-18-2010 08:29 PM

Good eye Rob. I'm going to have to modify my frame this winter to add those loops. That is a great idea. I still think I will get the backdrop if the price is right. I got the three sides made for $400 installed. I thought it was pretty a pretty good price.
