Well after 5 years....

and 182,000 (130,000 of mine) miles, Its time to say good bye to one of the best trucks I have ever owned!!

Nothing wrong with it!! But since I am a one car owner I need to make sure I have something dependable all the time.

But I will see her often as my friend Pete bought it from me and will use it as a tow vehicle and 2nd car.

So here is the new replacement, I hope it will be everything the old one was!!

2008 GMC Crew Cab, Z71, 4 X 4, 5.3 motor, 28,000 miles

Nice....good luck with it...Its funny looking at your yard in the summertime..I think the last time I remember you posting a pic your daughter had just filled CB's Scout with 2 feet of dirty snow!

willy 09-01-2010 02:51 PM

Very nice Wind Talker, she is a beaut

Blue_Runner 09-01-2010 03:20 PM

Sharp looking truck MJ. I'd like to have one just like it. I've got around 188k on my GMC Yukon but less than 5k on a fresh rebuild. I'm not planning on letting it go any time soon. I'd rather spend occasionally to keep it running than start any new payments right now.

Road King Cole 09-01-2010 03:27 PM

Nice Truck! Way to go!
Thanks for this pics, now I know what to look out for!!!!

rkc

lumberslinger178 09-01-2010 04:22 PM

good luck with it.

macojoe 09-01-2010 04:37 PM

Thanks guys!

No worry Wilson the snow will be here soon! I had a few come here and give me price on a new lawn, But the cost to have to cut grass was greater then I wanted so I got a truck instead!

Blue, nothing wrong with the old one, nothing ever rebuilt and runs great! I thought about a car and keep the truck for just towing, but the extra cost of the 2nd car and maintenance I just decided to go with the whole change.

RCK looks like all the rest! But this one aimed at you LOL

I hope I made the right choice?

But Kenny and CB both got new trucks! I wish I could have done new! But theses full size trucks cost some coin!

nymack66 09-01-2010 06:27 PM

Congratulations its one sweet ride for sure. It will serve you well..

MJ, I drive virtually the same truck every day for work. I have the 2007 Sierra 1500 with the extended cab Z71 4x4, not the crew cab, but other than that our two trucks are identical (including color). I've got 75,000+ miles on it now and never had a problem. Just give it the regular maintenance when it's due and it should purrrrr like a kitten for you for years to come. You made a very good choice.

phatdaddy 09-01-2010 07:23 PM

good looking rig, enjoy. wife's tahoe (02) has the 5.3 and it's been flawless for 145,000. it is the first gm vehicle i have ever owned(40 years driving) and will not be the last. i think your old truck had the 4.8, can you tell a big difference?

macojoe 09-01-2010 07:50 PM

Old truck is a 2002 Chevy 1500, Z71, with the 4.8, 182,000 miles

It has plenty of power for what I ever needed! But this 5.3 has balls!! I could tell right away on the test drive!! The sales guy never told me what it had, but I hit the gas out of the parking lot and said wow this has the 5.3!

The oly thing I did when I got the 02 when I got it was to tear out the rear springs and replaced with a set from a 2500 to boost the rear for towing the camper (30' Holiday) and cranked the T bars.

So far I have not touched the new truck, but we will see?? I am not towing the camper much these days.

Destroyer, thats good to hear! I do all the maintenance all the time! CB will tell you I drive hard, but I am always up on everything! So I am sure it will last!

phatdaddy, I am a huge GM guy!! I have been driving one on and off for 25 years, and for the last 15 years with a 1 year slip in 04 when I bought a 98 F150, one year to the day I got rid of it and never looked back!

Ummmmm.....Nooooo. Just someone with his mental capacity shouldn't be allowed to have full control of the buttons.

:you:

Were is the pic's of the Yota?? You embarrassed??

RABBITFISH 09-04-2010 07:37 AM

It is amazing how attached you can get to a truck! I have a 1991 Chevy 3500 that I am still running, (under 100,000 miles still) on it's second paint job, and I still love it. I know how much you are going to enjoy the new one, and Ill bet you will still miss the old one form time to time!!

Enjoy!!!!

What would I have to be embarrassed for? Not everyone is an attention ***** like yourself. :nut:

But since you asked.............

CB I had the 2006 TRD version of that truck, best truck on the road.
If I did not have to tow a camper and some heavy boats longer distances in the mountains I would still have mine for ten more years.
It was the best off road vehicle (stock) that is that i have ever had. Had mine in some of the most precarious sh!t you can imagine and it always went thru it like a walk in the park. had mine on logging trails in New hampshire, Vermont, New York State, Pennsylvania loaded up with me my bother and son and all our gear plus two Brittany"s in the back chasing after grouse in the hills on two tracks that had not been used in years and other guys told me I could not drive on. I put in low with the locked rear and four wheel engaged and idled up rock strewn washed out trails and it di it like no ones buisines.
You did good with that puppy my friend.

chumbucket 09-04-2010 10:06 PM

Thanks willy. I had the '04 TRD Off Road and loved it so much, I got another. This one is the TRD Sport. Essentially the same as the TRD Off Road (Bilstein Shocks and other goodies) but with a slightly different trim package. Tires are more for street than off road and such. These new ones are much bigger than the last generation. A lot more power too. I'm liking it a lot. Just the right truck for me.

willy 09-04-2010 10:33 PM
