1988 V-20 Sale
 

This looks like a nice clean V. I like it, but I dont understand for a newer V why they removed the full transom in the rear. I guess you would call it the full transom. My 86-V has the center black in color door that the batteries sit at along with the bilge pump. So where do the batteries go on this V ????. I do like the newer years, as you can see, the floor is slightly raised and deck drains recessed. Agree, disagree ?? or should I just shut-up and buy a Bayliner. *;D ;D ;D ;D

They did not cut the transom, it came that way!!

Batterys go in the rear.

I thopught you already had a bayliner??

Yep - Maco is correct. '88 model year brought several changes - I have one. There is only room for 1 battery (at least on my model). It drops thru the transom hatch lid on left side of motor (looking back at motor). The lid on the right side - has a small baitwell under the lid ... and you cant get anything past the baitwell. As far as the raised floor - its all what you prefer. The floor will self-drain "outside" the hull - but you give up maybe 2.5" of gunnel height. I like to fish in the ocean leaning up against the gunnel ? The extra height of the pre-'88 models is what I prefer - it just feels safer.

My 79 drains to through the spashwell which I like because I never have to worry about a through hull failing and filling the bilge. However even with the lower floor these boats never had a whole lot of freeboard no matter how you slice it.

Definitely looks like they went for a "one size fits all" on the cap. Check this picture on my '89 and you can see how the engine cover would fit right across on the '88. Mine has a seperate piece that fills the area in the center above the rub rail.

I have an 86 with the same configuration. *I took the teak strip off and put starboard completely over the opening for a cuttingboard. *I can still tilt my 150 Merc up to lock it in place. My transom is setup for a 25" motor. Airslot, it looks like yours is for a 20".

Yes, mine is cut for a 20" for the time being. It's never been a problem, not even in the ocean as the splash well does its job well. When I'm forced to repower it'll be 25" though. I'd like to figure a way to build a motor shroud with rid holders and cutting board built in.
