I need capacity plate info
Hey guys and girls. I need info form my capacity plate on my 1987 Wellcraft 18 fisherman. My plate has faded so bad, that you can't read it anymore and I want to order a new one from one of the vendors here. So if anyone has a 18 foot fisherman or knows of someone who does, plaese let me know max HP and capacity, persons and gear weight. Thanks

Btt
BTT, does anyone have an 18 fisherman that can tell me the caps?
|
Wellcraftinmass,
Next time I run down to to boat I take down the info. Might go down sunday. |
Wellcraftinmass,
I didn't forget. I just didn't make it to the boat. I'm shooting for this weekend. |
1982 Wellcraft 18 Fisherman has 150 HP, 5 person. Unsure on weight cap., will check and get back to you later.
|
my 83 says 2050 or 2085lbs for the weight cap. its hard to read since it is really faded.
as 5 haddocks said, 5 people and 150 hp max. i was working on her this weekend and thought of this thread. took a pic but it was worse than looking at it in person. |
Ok, I stopped by the boat and now have the rest of the weight info.
5 persons or 900 lbs 2315 lbs. gross with motor, persons & gear 150 HP As i said before this is from a 1982 Wellcraft 18 Fisherman, hope it helps and happy boating. |
Can the capacity numbers vary between different years...
My sticker is also faded and the numbers that I think I saw from my sticker are not even close to the other posted numbers.
1990 18' center console 6 people 800 lbs 1425 lbs passengers and motor 150 hp max Could these numbers be right or did I royaly screw the numbers up! :hide: Some please help cuz I'm confused now and I feel like I should be licking windows on a small yellow bus. (No offense to other fellow window lickers) |
Capacity Plate

I have '78 V-20 and as you can see from the picture my capacity plate was pretty much shot. After several minutes of trying to figure out what it said, I had it. I made a replica of the plate in Excel and took the example and the old plate to a local trophy shop. They made me a new plate in a few days. It turned out pretty good, it only cost $10.00
If you have any questions let me know hope this helps. Doug W. |
88 v20 steplift cuddy, capacity?
I have an 1988 v20 steplift cuddy...I see from the old lit that it weighs 1900 and takes up to a 235hp outboard....
Wondering if anyone knows capacity info on this one...mine doesnt have a plate....saw the earlier info from a 1978 in this thread...but thinking as the hp rating is lower then mine per wellcraft that as the line matured the numbers might have changed as well. Thanks all for any info. Rich 1988 v20 steplift cuddy (bought with a 175hp 99 ficht, which died recently..replacing this week with a 2010 150hp etec leftover, thanks to my insurance company). |
Who cares?? Its going to hold all you need and them some! Runs great with a 150 to 200 and there is no need for anything more!
I was hit by a wave that filled it to the gunwales with 2 people and 400 pounds of fish in the thing and it still floated! I am putting this questions up as the most useless asked question!! |
Capacity important due to type of use
Hi, I appreciate your reply (albeit seemingly quite an attack) but the reason I am so concerned about capacity is the way I use my V20.
I do Mobile pumpout for a living. Therefore I probably put much more weight in my V20 than just for fishing. Engine weighs 425, 60gals of fuel weighs 420lbs, pump and tanks weigh 200, I weigh 150...and **** is 10/lbs a gallon. So 100 gallons is 1000lbs and 150 is 1500lbs. I was hoping after watching the board for the last nine months of ownership of my V20 and loving it, and seeing the comraderie on the board, that I would have been able to join the community, be welcomed and receive a little help on my research. I do not understand why you think its the dumbest question you have ever seen, and appreciate that is your opinion. However when I was raised, I was taught that if you dont have anything nice to say, it is often best not to say anything at all. That being said, your opinion is your opinion and while I disagree with it, will defend your right till the death to have your opinion, as all Americans should. Happy Holidays. |
Called most useless question? Thanks.
Well Makojoe and admin, wrote this...

Here is my reply back to him on the thread he created to humiliate me....so much for the welcoming community. ******* Hi, I appreciate your reply (albeit seemingly quite an attack) but the reason I am so concerned about capacity is the way I use my V20. Well you had a good question and sorry you feel that way or took it that way, but my response was for the 11th time this year that this question was asked!! No one ever does a search to see if the question has been asked before they ask
This is why I made the comment not because you asked. Have a great time here and I have always said there is no dumb question, except the same one asked 50 times:beer: |
Thanks for the reply
Thanks macojoe, and im sorry too...think im just really touchy as this insurance thing has been a nightmare...and was also considering changing to a whaler with the settlement. But I have chosen to go with an etec 150, and am glad to be staying with the v20 cuddy and the v20 community.
I searched all around (apparently not in the right place) to find 88 v20 cuddy info on capacity...sorry i didnt find it, i do get its frustrating to see the same thing over and over. If you perhaps come across it again and can send me a direct link that would be awesome, but understand if your busy. Anyways, thanks again....and if your ever around the sfbay let me know and Ill make sure to buy ya a beer. Rich |
Rich,
When drinking those beers with MJ be sure to ask his opinion on trailer brakes, and what kind of truck Charlie the Tuna should buy.:cen::cen::cen::sun::beer: |
Welcome to the forum Tellrich.
Dang MJ......give the new guy a chance to get to know ya first. |
Brakes what are they??
CTT, His taste in trucks is like his taste in football teams!:nut: |
I was wondering why all the chatter on this subject. Yes, there have been many threads on this before, didn't realize it was becoming a "fun topic"...
That's just MJ being MJ; the gruff ol moderator we all had to learn to love. (actually he is truly a great guy) Welcome to the site... rkc |
