Final deal ? Well I think I may have found the best deal FOR ME. In talking to all the local marinas, I keep getting forwarded to this one in particular for rebuilds. Looked out of state but what good is a warranty out of state. Here it is: 1994' Johnson 150 HP looper being rebuilt as I type. Motor and controls Installed and bay tested with a 90 day warranty on whole job. Installing a new Tach, giving brand new aluminum 15 X 15 Prop. Friends who have been boating a long time in this area tell me he's honest and does excellent work ( even other shops ! ) he was asking $3,800 got him to $3,500. What do you think ? |

Sounds like a good deal to me, and it is good to hopefully be hooked up with a good, honest mechanic. Good luck with it--should be a perfect match! |

???? I think my post got deleted... I answered this thread the same day Joker posted it. That's the second time I put something up and it disappeared..wierd. As to the question at hand, I don't know..... It's nice to have it all installed and such, no denying that... but $3500 is a lot of your money. Truth be told it's more than I spent on my boat, motor, and trailer. You might want to go that direction.. buy a combo, take the motor and sell the hull and trailer. I don't know why, but people sell their entire package for less than the parts that make up the package are worth. Look in eBay or on Craigslist and you'll see what I mean. It's your call... |

Its all in what you want, I bought a 1984 Sea Ox for $3000, in fall of 2006, I added a hard top,$3000 all new electronics, $2000 and now a 2005 4 stroke at $8200, miss and the boat stands me right about $20,000 There is nothing like having all new! Man I just turn the key and no worries all day (I Hope!!) Joker if you love the boat and sure you are keeping it, then go for it! If you can trust the guy and he does a complete rebuild the right way, its worth it! I just looked at a 20' foot Mako brand new, boat motor trailer, nothing else $40,000 :cen::cen: You can do a lot with that kind of coin!! Good Luck |

Joe your boat is the cats meow now, don't be toying with us. I see the fish looking at it from afar in the water even showing it off to their school. Someday all of us will be like the Maco with the 4 stroke but until then we get to listen to loud 2 strokes. :sand: |

Yea that thing is awsome on gas!:sly: |
 You're all jealous. :nut: |

I went 100 miles in my boat on tuesday in search of tuna with no love so dont feel bad. I am guessing 25-30 gallons |
See? You could have got the same for $0.00 with my boat. :sun: |
You have a great boat ! Joe just thinks he is better than all of us now with the 4 stroke, but that will change when i get a 5 stroke :bsflag: |
 That's not bad....for 100 miles I'm burning a min of 40 gallons! |
I have the yamaha 200 hdpi which seems to get great mileage, love joes 4 stroke though as its so so quiet. My boat is a 21 center console and pretty light, its like 2300 pounds dry weight and 3500 or so rigged with gear. We drive it pretty slow 30-34 mph or so but overall its very fuel efficient. |
that Contender has nothing on the OX!! a tenth of the cost!:hide: No really its nice boat and we are at the same price now with all my improvements. And we are getting the same gas mileage with the 4 stroke on mine, and my boat is 3300 pounds before I add all my gear! I am going to rename Bobs boat to Queenie :nut: |
Bull**** you are into the ox for more than I am into the contender the only sucky thing is mine is worth more than i paid for it :hide: |
Maybe I a grand more?? But I have a 4 stroke thats worth more then my boat!! :hide: |
Your boat is much more comfortable than mine as well and the chicks dig your cuddy cabin. Fish love mine better but thats not why you are out there :sand: |

Johnson 150 hp looper carb'd engine - one of the most reliable outboards ever made. If the rebuild is top shelf - done right, it will last you a long time. I had one of these. Of course it smokes some when cold, and keep the carbs clean, but it will run, and run, and run................ |
