18 Fisherman paint job
5 Attachment(s)
Started painting today. Got the first coat on and then rain started to move in quickly. After a short down pour the boat was wiped off and the second coat started to be applied......There was a bit to much moisture on the boat after the rain and some of the second coat didn't adhere as well as I would like.
There was a bit of orange peel, so the plan is to go over the boat with some 220 and apply another coat. My buddy Lance is the sprayer so we're gonna put any blame on him. I still am happy with the results so far. I will update with more pics when it's done. |
i like a fightin lady yellow boat
looks gooood  |
Me too! I came close to going with "Ice Blue" but I am happy with the yellow. I am planning on painting the blue, white with and anti-fouling. Mostly because of lazyness. It was so much work removing the bottom paint of the sides and back I could not imagine trying to get it off the bottom.

Looking good:clap:
Nice mohawk too! |

Got the boat finished up yesterday and I put my decals and thru hulls in today. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Cool numbers. They would not be legal here in New Jersey. We're only allowed to have block and slanted numbers, no script. But they are def neat. Paint job turned out awesome... you should be proud!! Well done sailor!!!

:fight:looks like it has a good shine to it from the pics . what kind of paint did you use ?
seeing lance in that picture i dont think i would try and blame him ! |
I ordered the reg #'s from eBay. I got both sets for $7 shipped. Really worth the $ considering the peel and stick letters that I would have to line up myself are more than that. As far as I know they are legal here, we'll see.
The paint is a single stage marine paint from xTreme Finishes, supposed to be comparable to Imron. It is very shiny. |

same here in NC they are not legal here either. plus to small for all 50 states too. letters must be min 3" |
Better go to your state's DNR website and figure out the legalities for the size and placement of the numbers. If they are not exactly right it gives the DNR a perfect opportunity for a boarding and potential citation(s).

I just went to the website for you and you are not in compliance. Registration numbers/letters must be in 3" high BLOCK letters. Glad you posted what you have on there now so maybe this will save you the hassle of a citation.

The letters are 3" tall so I am just not in compliance with the block style. Oh well, they are staying on. I will let you guys know if I get cited.

No problem Curapa. Boat really looks good and I like the lettering. Just may get a picky DNR guy looking for a reason to pull you over, though. As long as you have all of your required equipment, person at the helm is not BUI, etc. should not be a big deal. Good luck with the boat. Again, it really looks great (love the yellow!).

Hitler's SS were a bunch of nice guys compared to a DNR patrol on a power trip.

they escorted me back to the dock and said I couldn't boat anymore that day because I didn't have a valid registration with me. :cen: Cost me $5 and a trip to the DMV for a duplicate.. Welcome to New Jersey.... |

Are you serious?????? Come on you must have left out the part when you told them you never new that a-holes could drive a boat or something of that nature prior to boarding you.:fam: |
