MJ & Valiant,

We say it to our vets all the time - same to you guys "Thanks for your service"

Thanks for the salute and apologies for the problems. I would like to blame BP for our troubles but, as Joe stated at the top of the thread, the server farm was really the culprit. They decided that Memorial Weekend would be a good time to swap out the server that this site resides on, and that knocked a few things out of whack.

The update as of this morning is that the problems with Gallery appear to be resolved. Everyone with an account should be able to log in and post images. Please report any problems you might have.

As for the rest of the site and the slowness... that is being worked on. Hopefully that will be resolved shortly.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the technical issues and get everything back right again.

The slowness issue may be resolved. I am continuing to monitor the situation.

RABBITFISH 06-04-2010 07:07 AM

Just checking in, looks like it's back to normal operations!
I didn't realize how much I enjoyed this site until I couldn't get on for a couple days!!!

Thanks again!!!!!!

It's still slow, but not nearly as bad as before. Looks like the kinks are being worked out. I find the slowness is most apparent when actually posting a message... seems to be some lag there as the server processes the data. Keep up the good work and thanks for all your efforts:beer:

valiant_200 06-04-2010 07:21 PM

I am glad it is running faster now. I have been watching this situation carefully, but the more eyes the better!

valiant_200 06-11-2010 03:25 PM

Just to keep you all up to date, I have been noticing some slowness creeping back into this site over the past day and this must be dealt with.

So, for the next few hours and especially tonight, we will be working on the server. During this time, you may notice some issues with performance. This is for the greater good, as we work to resolve the lingering performance issues and get things back to something approaching normal.

As always, thank you for your patience.

THANKS valiant!!

I don't think its a Server issue I have observed the fact you are running the same version (Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.8.4)
http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24 this site is also showing the exact issues seen and experience here.
Maybe an upgrade to version 4.0.3 will fix the bugs per there web site? If there is anything I can do to help let me know ..

valiant_200 06-11-2010 06:27 PM

That is a good suggestion and I will certainly try that if this doesn't work, but for a good many reasons I believe the database server is at the heart of our problems.

Our problems here began when the server farm swapped out the physical machine that this site resides on with a newer machine. We have been using vB 3.8.2 for quite some time now with no problems until the techs at the farm started tinking with things. :bat:

Destroyer 06-11-2010 08:20 PM

If it ain't broke, don't fix it... Problem is that the new server farm might not be compatable with this version. I've seen it before where the new machine(s) caused a software problem because of the updates hardware... and the only way to fix it was to update the software.

Destroyer 06-11-2010 11:11 PM

Oh, and FYI... the load time definintly seems to be much better.. so whatever you're doing seems to be working.. nice job:clap::clap:

spareparts 06-12-2010 07:16 AM

seems to be getting worse from my end, I click on a topic, get up to top of my coffee(morning) or a fresh beer(any otehr time of day) and by teh time I sit back down, the topic has come up. Its not doing it with any other sites I get on so I assume its this site issue. Ya'll notice how few post we've had since this started?

valiant_200 06-12-2010 11:11 PM

Thank you. It seems to be running better now. Lets hope it sticks this time.

A thousand apologies for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

spareparts 06-13-2010 07:36 AM

much better now, thanks for all the hard work Valiant
