Census workers can enter your apartment in your absence

Thousands of census workers, including many temporary employees, are fanning out across America to gather information on the citizenry. This is a process that takes place not only every decade in order to complete the constitutionally-mandated census; but also as part of the continuing “American Community Survey” conducted by the Census Bureau on a regular basis year in and year out.
What many Americans don’t realize, is that census workers — from the head of the Bureau and the Secretary of Commerce (its parent agency) down to the lowliest and newest Census employee — are empowered under federal law to actually demand access to any apartment or any other type of home or room that is rented out, in order to count persons in the abode and for “the collection of statistics.” If the landlord of such apartment or other leased premises refuses to grant the government worker access to your living quarters, whether you are present or not, the landlord can be fined $500.00.
That’s right — not only can citizens be fined if they fail to answer the increasingly intrusive questions asked of them by the federal government under the guise of simply counting the number of people in the country; but a landlord must give them access to your apartment whether you’re there or not, in order to gather whatever “statistics” the law permits.
In fact, some census workers apparently are going even further and demanding — and receiving — private cell phone numbers from landlords in order to call tenants and obtain information from them. Isn’t it great to live in a “free” country?

Macojoe,you know my feelings towards our present administration, and, truthfully, towards our government as a whole since Woodrow Wilson. I could not agree with you more about the census people having no right to invade a persons home. But we allowed the law to be passed. On average, once every 6 minutes, somewhere in America, a new law is passed. And each new law is a loss of a tiny bit of freedom. To be sure, some laws are necessary, like not shooting the president..... But until ordinary citizens start getting involved and start asking questions we will continue to loose our freedoms, one little law at a time. If you think the census people having access to your home is outrageous, look up the laws regarding Fish and Game Wardens. They can enter your home with guns drawn, with no warrant, and based soley on their suspicion of you being a poacher. :cen:

I just had a census guy come to my house 2 week ago, and i sent him on his way!!
I told him I did it by mail and was to busy to answer his questions! He got all up in my face, we began to argue and told him to get off my property now! He just keep going with his mouth, I said I calling the cops he said they know we are here, I said they will also know your here when I bash in your ****ing head, and say I thought you were going to hurt me the way you were yelling and see how you like that!!
He said we will be back, i said anytime you want to die step on my stairs again!!:bat:

Maco you must have scared the hell out of the census guy you mad man. A lady came to our house asking us for info about our nbhrs family size and age. For the billions it costs to do this maybe they should all send us a check for 100 bucks for the census to be filled out and do away with the million census workers being trained for 40 hours to do 7-8 hours of field work. This is socialism at its best,maybe next time thay can train them for 80 hours of work to up the pay a tad more.

Census workers ain't all bad. My friend had a hot little brunette stop by his rental place the other day. He explained that he had already filled out the census at his home and he was just renting until this job was thru. Census worker beware. Some want to bash your ****ing head in MJ and others want to have you for dinner...

With all due respect, the census is just a head count (with limited ability to collect statistics) mandated by the Constitution. The census this year was pretty limited, and most conservative commentators will tell you name, address & number of occupants is all you need answer. What is wrong with that?

And those and those alone are the questions I answered as required by the Constitution. :cen:

Nipper what has made it different is that the crimegress has voted more power and the Whitehouse (the Whitehouse) has taken control and is directly running the census. they are doing it for purely political power reasons and they have expanded the authority of the census takers.
They have also expanded what they are asking and have increased the penalties for Americans who do not comply.
It isn't just that this was done with the census, it is not that the Crimegress and the whitehouse have done these things, it is the big picture that everyone who has their head out of the sandbox is seeing going on.
The Socialist's are in the Whitehouse, and they are in charge of the Crimegress. They have ignored the will of the people on several key issues and have usurped authority to an ever more powerful federal govt. And tonight they have voted themselves the authority to take over any private enterprise they deem as to big to fail or too important to the economy or that they just want to control.
They have been doing this and tghe other thigs like forcing americans to buy products that they will determine is appropriate (health care) they have taken over the auto industry and have completly ignored the Bankruptcy Laws that control those things and instead gave their union cronies %51 percent control of the companies and took control of the rest telling the thousands of shareholders and pensioners to go pound salt. Not by the authority of law, but by decree of the president. They are in full press to ignore the Constitution and make it moot. That is not an exxageration, that is in their own words and is available for anyone who wants to see it.
We have a G D freaking Socialist in the Whitehouse. In November if we don't get his cronies, those freaking thieves out of the crimegress everything you know as America is gone, everything you want for your children and the future is gone.
It is that freaking important, it is that deadly serious.
That is why every American is upset, that is why every American wants nothing to do with the census. Not because of the census but because of the treason that is our president and the congress now.

The reason for the census (as stated by the Constitution) is to count people. Period!! It is not to see if you're black or white or hispanic or whatever. It is not to see what kind of a job you work at. It's not even to see if you work... All these little things have been put in over the years, and with each addition they know just a little bit more about you.. For too long we have been led down a primrose path by both sides of the political spectrum (Dems and Reps) that are really only interested in keeping their cushy jobs. The problem is that as they take more and more of our freedoms from us (in the guise of "protecting" us), we become more and more dependent on them for everything. When they are in control of everything they can decide if you get health care, and how much and what kind... too old, too infirm, mentally defective? Sorry, no meds for you.. you're a burden on society.. die. (That from one of Obama's advisors, Rom Emanuals brother) You must wear a seat belt, you must wear a helmet, you must buy only a GM car, you must bank only at Bank of America, You cannot eat this food, it has too much salt in it.. it might make you sick...You cannot eat this food, it has too much sugar... etc etc etc. Their goal is to control you at every step of the way..
