Can be very slippery in flip flops too. Thank goodness for a raw water washdown!

No actually I'm just happy to get the gaff stuck ANYWHERE in the fish to be able to bring it in. *Plus think how much better the meat is now that I got all that nasty blood out *;D

Ok I promised a pic of the Yozuri crystal minnow that got slammed by about every king we caught so here it is (and that's my penn squidder reel that I scored on ebay for $23 *;)):

Does the "crystal minnow" come in different sizes? If so, what size you got?

Yes it does. *They say the little ones are Spanish killers...I'd actually never heard of using them for kings but figured the smaller kings would like the bigger ones. *I was right! *I don't know the numbers on it but its like 6 or 7 inches long. *When I go back shopping I'm gonna get the biggest ones they make ;-)

We also pulled one that was the boston mackerel pattern but it only got one strike and the fish came unbuttoned. * :-/ *I guess the one that got all the hits looked the most like the menhaden the fish were feeding on. *???

BTW - that lure was BRAND new before that day...not a scratch on it! ;)

I wouldnt waste an expensive lure on kings around here. They will hit anything down this way. I have caught em on a freelined turd in the Gulf. ;D

i caught one once on a piece of pork chop with a line tied off to the work barge. no pole or nothin. stinks right. round here, they eat anything.

we had a crane set up on a barge driving piles in gulfport harbor. it was my turn to cook that day so while the coals were getting hot i took the work boat to grab some line and a hook i had spotted earlier tangled up under the dock. was grillin pork chops that day so i stabbed a piece on the hook and tied the line off to the spud. won twenty bucks off the boss. and another twenty off the crane operator.i only made the bet cause i was already a couple hundred up in the nascar pool.

when i think about it, most of my best fishing experiences have been while on the clock! one more thing that sucks about being self employed now. if i didnt have the wife and kid i would go back to work for the corps in a heartbeat.
