Re: Bracket

Yep, just like mine, but white. I still don't know how it will perform, but the installation was fairly straightforward.

If you can get it for under $200, it may be worthwhile.

OOp's!! Sorry BGA!! :-X :-[

But its ture, they have the crapest boats!! and this is a cheap way of doing it!
There is a guy that welds here he just takes 1 1/2 or 2 fence post and makes them, he sent one for power coat and its nice!!

If you don't need flotation this is the way to go!!

Re: Bracket

this is just a hunch, but, the set-back on a bracket [ usually 26"-30"] may change any weight issues. True, the sea-drive is probably heavier, but it's right up against the transom.....new bracket is lighter but now two feet behind the transom......just thinking out loud here, BGA what is the set back on your bracket?, doesn't look to be 26"-30" ?? BTW, I almost bought a V w/ the same type of bracket and an older 200 Johnson. It did not have a trailer, and it was from N.C.[ Wilmington] 700-800 miles from N.Y., it was a brokered boat and after two conversations with the guy I didn't have a good feeling about him or the boat so I passed

Re: Bracket

Nope. New Jersey Yatch sales. But he brokers alot of V-20's from all over the states. One of these guys who says, yes sir ree, its turn key, take the kids out every weekend, bogus title for the trailer, never transfered the boat title from the last owner. It was a real mess. Surprised I kept my cool. Really wanted to give him a whoopin. ;D

Hi Phester, you're right. My bracket is just under 26" (closer to 25 1/2"). The weight of the engine is definitely comparable to the sea drive, so there will be a difference in the handling, just not sure to what degree. I think it'll be okay. Like I said, we'll see soon enough ;)
