Came home last night, boat was painted!
Took a chance on a guy from Craigslist who said he would come and lightly sand and paint the bottom for $200. Although I think it could have been sanded smoother, the paint looks pretty good! I went with pettit vivid white, it was previously blue. He pretty much used the full gallon. He probably saved me a weekend or two if I did it myself, nevermind back pain...

Glad it all all worked out for you..Now go enjoy Boating :)

Yeah man...go enjoy the V!!...
I don't understand why everybody who paints the belly doesn't use white??...:head: |

white bottom paint usually turns green

that paint has copper in it, it will look white for a few months, but it will start to turn green around the water line, I've seen light grey used and it stays grey for a good while, looks good on a white boat, especially if you separate it with a boot stripe

Mine being a trailered boat, I am thinking/hoping it shouldn't go green...we'll see.

Sure does look purty though don't she?:clap:

looks pretty sweet in that picture.....for 200 bucks you got a deal for sure.....I'm not a fan either of paying people to do stuff that I am competent at doing myself but when I do it there is a hell of good feeling of coming home and seeing something done!

I really like the radar arch. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I want to put something like that on mine, or a soft top w/ rocket launchers.

RKC,
That white looks fantastic! Looks like a great job for $200 |

bottom paint
THe white looks awesome. I am ready to do V20 which has a faded blue finish on the botom. Seriously considering going with the white since it is trailered all the time. Any special consideration/ prep when using the Petit Vivid over blue antifouling??

Hi Barkyboy,
Welcome to the site. I don't really know. It probably should be sanded well. My old blue paint was really old and non-existent in many area's. We'll see how it holds up over the summer! |
