Thanks MacoJoe. I was active on the site last year until my boat sank in the Barnstable triangle in a June '06 storm. I was depressed all last summer and indecisive on what to do. As far as this bot goes, I too am wondering about the transom, but I assume the motor is off for the rebuild. I may forgoe fixing mine and just splash this one for less money.

:o

Is yours still sunk? I would think you could rewire and repower with a used motor (like a Merc 150) for much less than $8400.

Was there other damage to your boat?

Re: Clean Cape Cod Cuddy

I lost the windshield and sustained damage to the bow rail, gunwale and all hatches. I determined that the drains from the bow back were clogged and allowed the boat to fill up and the pump gave out. Also, I believe the previous owner had cut the transom down to a 20" and this model year has no tub in the stern, only a removable plate. I got a non matching windshield I may install but it will be a custom fit. The hull is perfect and I could see that I did a great job of painting the bottom while viewing the boat bobbing upside down in the ocean. So, yes I will have to completely rewire, plus reglass the console and hatches. Plus, I really want an Etec vs a headache of a used motor. The boat mentioned above hat least has a rebuilt Johnson (not a Merc fan).

I found additional pics. Here is one of the transom. I agree, not worth 8400. Maybe $7500?

http://www.oysterriverboatyard.com/i...e/IMG_4965.JPG

Also proves that my 88 got cut down from a 25" to a 20" which definitely contributed to it sinking.

4 grand at the most..."newly rebuilt" doesnt mean much unless you know who did it and trust them...or did it yourself.....plus its not even rigged on the boat for a test drive...so you'd be buying a motor that you didnt test under a load.....seeing a motor run on a stand is worthless....also it has bottom paint which knocks value off in my book....of course these are just my opinions.

Hello all,

I was checking on our web site and saw this sites url linking to us, very interesting page!

That being said, the V-20 mentioned in this topic is ours for sale. I am not coming here to try to 'sell' the boat to any of you though, but if any of you have questions about it please do not hesitate to ask. I have seen a few questioned the lack of engine on the transom and the rebuild. Those photos were taken at the end of last year, when the engine was taken off and is currently in the process of being rebuilt by one of our certified marine techs. Obviously if someone wanted to buy it and water test it we would rig the engine and toss it in for a test ride. The boat is very clean and has been maintained here.

The bench seat is one of the best things you can ad to the V-20! It fits perfectly along the stern of the boat and ads seating for 3 or 4 more people. I do not think we have a V-20 here or ever sold one without the rear bench seat.

We used to be a Wellcraft dealer years ago, and we still have a few customers running around with their V-20 and love them!

(I know some forums have rules/regs on companies posting stuff so if i am in violation of anything please let me know. I have not put our web page, company name, etc, up because of this.)

Happy boating!

Westwind you are fine in your response!!

If anyone is interested in this boat I can go take a look! Its just down the road!!

Boat, I know that triangle well!! Every time I broke down in my 20 years of fishing has been Barnstable!! Including Blowing the engine last summer!

I have vowed to never go there again!!

I have said that before and did not go there for like 3 years, But last summer I said lest go its close to the spring Mac's, well I got just past the sticks, hit the gas, got on plan, and BOOM!

Stick around!! Its me and CB holding down the NE and we need more people here!! Maybe we can hook up sometime!!

MJ,

If you take a look at it, let me know your thoughts. I cannot get to the Cape for a few weeks. I am also looking at a 2004 Evinrude 150 demo motor. If I can get it with the 7 year warrantee, then I may go that route.

And for all,
I have a rear bench seat in mine. It is fantastic and easily removable. It attaches to the floor with pins.
