As of today i am a proud owner of a 1990 V-20 cuddy. Boat needs a lot of cleaning, nothing the preasure washer can't handle.

RidgeRunner 09-24-2009 06:55 AM

Looks great. Lots of shine. Is it an I/O of outboard? Is there anything better than the excitement generated by a new boat?

lumberslinger178 09-24-2009 07:22 AM

love those lines....

nipper 09-24-2009 07:54 AM

She's a beauty. Looks just like my 91 with the same stripes and same color bottom paint.

Seacrets 09-24-2009 06:56 PM

Saw you post up on the Carolina Skiff owners site. I've owned two V20's at different times and I love the ride. I wish my 238 Semi V rode 1/2 as good at the Wellcraft. You're going to love the boat.

That was the main reason i sold my 2008 dlv238 with only 8 hours, don't get me wrong, the boat is very good at what was intended to do, just i was wrong buying the DLV for whar i wanted to use it for. Oh well............, the Grady goes everywhere :sun:

Seacrets 09-25-2009 08:41 PM

I've seen your Grady and it looks great. I'm getting tired of getting wet and I'm currently negociating with a guy (83 yrs old) for his 87 24' Privateer. This particular model is a shallow draft and a 9'1" beam. It's a real good boat for the flats. The only drawback is a 200 hp Merc (2005) 2 stroke. It only has 40 hrs on it, but I really like my Yamaha 4 stroke economy. I don't know if I'm ready to go back to 1-2 mpg. You'll love the V20. Good luck and if I can help you, let me know. I've rebuilt 2 of them. This site is great for help and a good bunch of guys.

Thanks, that Privateer IS a very solid boat, but another draw back that they pound a lot, same as the skiff. My cousin had one, an old model in the 80's and we took that boat everywhere, you can throw whatever mother nature wants to this boat and it will not budge, but you should have a chiropractor in the family, otherwise you gonna end up with a huge bill.

I was busy the last couple of days fixing the trailer fenders. They were all rusted on top, so i removed them and glass the top and bottom, then i will paint them with some Interlux gray color.

Also removed the electric winch which was not working, took it apart, lubricated and now is good as new, all i'm waiting for is a set of clucth washers.
I also replaced the two bow rollers with new ones.

hate to tell ya but if you didn't stop and kill that rust or prep those fenders with metal prep for fiberglassing 1) the rust will now rust it totally away inside the glass and 2) the glass will come loose and you will have a heck of a mess on the hwy when that happens. better off to buy 2 new fenders.

All rust was removed with a grinder and also made holes on the fenders for the top and bottom layer of glass to bond together. I can't find fenders to fit at the local trailer part stores, i also called EZ Loader and gave me two dealers which they wanted 650 bucks for the set
What i will do is try and make a set out of that aluminum diamond plate but i have not got a price yet. I don't even know where to go and get them done.

RWilson2526 09-30-2009 10:50 AM

found these guys have reasonable prices....not sure if they fit dimensionally but they look alot like yours.

nipper 09-30-2009 12:50 PM

What are the particulars on your Yamaha (i.e. year, hours, cost)?

Skools Out 09-30-2009 05:05 PM

um they sold aluminum tandem fenders at West Marine and Boaters World which is gone now for $89 each.

tsubaki 09-30-2009 05:11 PM

I'm with Skools on the fender stuff, it's a cancer, no stopping it.

Is a 2000 with don't know how many hours(seller says less than 300), is a SX150 which is fuel injected. The guy, i know him, gave me the motor, controls, cables, digital tach, oil tank, s/s prop(have to check the size), he told me put it on the boat, try it and if i like it give him 2200 bucks. I think is a very good deal. What you guys think?

If it runs, you just got a steal!

-Svence

nipper 10-01-2009 07:38 AM

I agree 100% that you got a steal. With the way the guy sold it to you (i.e. put it on and if you like it pay me), it will probably be a very good motor. Congratulations!

NOTHING ELSE MATTERS 10-01-2009 09:00 AM

Yeah, i think so too, he also claims that had the injectors and VST cleaned.

BenFishin 10-01-2009 09:17 AM

I hate to be the first to say but, i dont know if i would put a nice motor on a transom that looks like that. I dont see how it couldnt be toast with all of that stuff exposed.

What do you mean "looks like that" ? At the picture shown is getting prepped to be glassed as i explain, what else you see wrong?

BenFishin 10-02-2009 01:30 PM

I miss read where you said you had removed the cap. and it did look like it had been wet at one time. Did you test it for moisture tho? Drill a hole see what the wood looks like?

dmoore 10-02-2009 07:38 PM

New "V"

Congrats on the new family member! Looks like she's in good hands alright...keep us posted! Dave
