Thats still a whole lot of pennies for a motor that needs rebuilding.

Not if you had one that needed a lower unit, or a T&T unit, or electronics, or other good parts?

My bad AIR. In the need for glass's. Just reread it. Thought it was $575.00
$275.00 for a parts motor is a great deal.

So when I sold my 2001 Evinrude Ficht 150 (w/70hrs) with a perfectly operational lower unit and tilt&trim for $300, I got ripped off? Do not tell me, I know the answer!

All:

Okay then what is a good price for selling a motor that needs to be rebuilt? I have a 1994 Merc 150 2.0L complete with remote oil tank, all electrical components, trim and tilt, lower unit, cowlings - everything as it was before number 1 cylinder went south. Compression is between 95 and 100 on the other five, but #1 shows zero compression. What do you think I can I expect to sell it for without having to part it out?

Thats the kicker, you'll get more if you part it out. IF everything is good, you may get 700 or so selling it compleate? Just a guess...

Okay, now you guys got me thinking too.

When an engine goes bad, other than the lower unit, carbs, prop, and cowling, what more is there to part out (minus T&T)?

Re: Johnson 175 $275

Depends on what broke and what people need at the time. A good crank can be worth its weight in gold. All the electronics can be re-used or make spares for somebody. People are always looking for flywheels. My problem has always been, when I have something, nobody is looking for it. When I need something, nobody his it ???

you get best money for a motor parting it out cause shipping is less and some people will pay much more for just a part than a whole motor.
