Delaware Fishing License
Well I knew it was coming, :( :(
I just read this in the fishing report from Bill's Sport Shop: General Fishing License The Delaware State Legislature has passed and the Governor has signed into law the General Fishing License that will go into effect January 2008. This law--with a few exceptions--will mean that anybody fishing, clamming and crabbing in ANY Delaware waters will be required to purchase a GFL(General Fishing License). We will keep you posted as more information is released. As of now we believe the fees will be 8.50 for resident and 20.00 for non resident, also a boat sticker will be available to cover all occupants for 40.00 per year. |
Re: Delaware Fishing License
That my friend is a bunch of Bullpucky >:(

Re: Delaware Fishing License
talk about bullpucky. if you launch at gulfport harbor and head south for 7 miles, ur in louisiana. out of state fishin liscense in louisiana is $120. mississippi is the only coastal state in the country that does not have direct access to international waters. way back when they divided the state lines they decided to float a barrel. la politicians found every excuse to put it off for 9 days till thier was a strong easterly wind. the state line now runs about 7 miles offshore paralell to our shores. and our moron politicians fell for it. here in ms out of state liscense is (i think) $20. unless you hail from la. then it'll cost you $90.

Re: Delaware Fishing License
Does that at least cover fresh and saltwater?
|
Re: Delaware Fishing License
Several years ago South Carolina had nonresident licenses for $35, then later a saltwater stamp for an extra $7.50. After a few sucessful years the saltwater went to $35 also.
I used to buy the saltwater stamp basically as a donation when buying the state license. Now I haven't graced SC to fish at all. |
Re: Delaware Fishing License
I hate to say this but I do believe in a short time that most, if not all states, will require salt water fishing license. It's just a matter of time and the way the Government is, they see cash and revenue. ::)

Re: Delaware Fishing License

I will have to shell out the $40.00, cause I always have people fishing with me. |
Re: Delaware Fishing License
We have defeted this already but it will be back!! I for one wil be in jail as I wil not pay to a system that can't and won't protec the inshore fishery!!
Why would I pay for a salt lic?? They are not going to stock the fish, they are shutting down more and more access to the water all the time, They have the dragers dragging with in 100 yards of the sure. Were is my money going?? What are we going to get for are money that we already don't have? Are they going to kick the dragers 3 miles off ashore to protec the inshore fish? No sir I will not pay for my god given right to fish a free ocean!! |
Re: Delaware Fishing License
MJ that was (still is) the same mentality in Georgia many years ago.
All they did was increase the freshwater license price and renamed it a fishing license. At least it covers all forms of fishing, bait catching, shellfish and crabbing, etc. Other states have the type of fishing broken into different permits. To harass anything in the water in GA just buy a fishing license and trout stamp. |
Re: Delaware Fishing License
I doubt a dime of the income made off of the SW liscenes will go back to the SW fish. I have been fishing since I can remeber and will never have my rights to the ocean have a price tag on it. *>:(
Time to raise the scull and cross bones and fish on! ;) 8) ;D |
Re: Delaware Fishing License
DIG THIS, I live in GA $9.00 for my lic.
Fish in Fl. $21.00 if I remember correctly Visit MS and spent $7.50 for a 3 day NOw you tell me when I go home, I have to pay to fish the indian river inlet? I'd rather just fish OC, Maryland doesn't yet charge. At least I don't remember them chargins for Salt water. As for GA, They don't inforce SH)&. I swear you can't swim for the shrimpers dragging right up against the beach. But get caught with a shorty and you and your boat are headed for bad days. |

I'm with ya on that brotha! ;) And MJ, I totally agree with you on your point. It seems boaters will continue to get screwed as more waterfront is developed into condos and less space is devoted to ramps, docks, and marinas. People move to the coast and fall in love with it and then change it to suit their needs. Thats part of the reason I moved out of Florida and back to coastal Georgia. |
Re: Delaware Fishing License
Bradford, you aren't the only one, a lot of people are going north to al & ga. the prop tax & homeowners ins has started a mass exodus north.
