Facebook?!?

how many of you guys have a facebook?

good thing?

bad thing?

C YENSEN 06-09-2009 07:21 PM

I do. I know Maco and Hammer do also.....good way to keep in touch with friends you dont see very often

tsubaki 06-09-2009 07:55 PM

Depends on family and friends.
My wife has hers and the whole family and even a family tree type of thing which shares all of them.
I've got a small close family and friends, no one more than 60 miles away, so for me being the unsociable guy I am, a phone call suffices.

lumberslinger178 06-09-2009 08:45 PM

me do...

Skools Out 06-09-2009 10:07 PM

several of us have myspace too

THEFERMANATOR 06-09-2009 10:31 PM

I have a MYSPACE, that's it. I don't have enough time for FACEBOOK or TWITTER anymore with my current projects and work. I still have to devote a large part of my internet time here, so those others have to be put off.

charlie_the_tuna 06-09-2009 10:50 PM

now myspace seemed pretty different to me. my wife insisted that i start a facebook so i did. it was great at first. i hooked up with old friends i havent seen in many years. i also found family i never knew i had.
thats when it all went south. you all know the story. buncha old girls from my past came out of the woodwork and it started to get very ugly very fast.
dam near ended my marriage. SERIOUS! she didnt speak to me for weeks. thought it was over. have since smoothed things over but this facebook is, or can be a very bad thing.
one good thing, my best friend ever moved to the west coast some years ago. this is the first time in 20 something years we speak (type) regularly.
for all you guys who have had a woman or two, beware of facebook.

lumberslinger178 06-10-2009 06:45 AM

what can we say chuck youve got the cavorka.....:booty:

reelapeelin 06-10-2009 07:20 AM

Just one of the many hazards of bein' a stud-muffin w/a past...

Pipe_Dream 06-10-2009 07:22 AM

I've had several friends try to talk me into that social networking stuff, but why? They say it'll help old friends get back in touch with me, but I figure if I haven't spoken to them in 20 years why do I need to now? I barely keep up with e-mails as it is.

If you want to talk to me, pick up the phone.

nipper 06-10-2009 07:45 AM

how your wife know about it?? We all have are own computers and mine are password, No one gets in but me!!

I just talk to who i want, if someone i no want to talk to i just don't

drbabe 06-10-2009 12:24 PM

More Screen time...

I've been mucking about in FB for about two months now. I agree with everything everyone above says, plus the basic fact that more screen time detracts from more boating time. It's been great reconnecting with old pals, but, like anything else, use in moderation. There are definitely people who spend huge amounts of their day on it. Watch out for those paternity suits.

I don't have a facebook or myspace. The quote above is exactly what I was going to point out.

Not too long ago my wife mentioned that she might do facebook and asked me what I thought. I said he11 no...I'm not sure if she did it or not but I don't think she did.

One day around the lunch table some friends and I had a debate about it. Talking to one of my work-wives I said well, what happens when your old boyfriend starts emailing or messaging you? She's like big deal, why can't we be friends? I'm like I can't think of one single reason on God's green earth why I would ever need to talk to an old girlfriend!! (Actually I can think of one). Likewise I can't think of any reason my wife would need to keep in contact with an old boyfriend!! The work-wife acted like I was being ridiculous!! I'm like whatever!!! I want a work-wife-divorce :sun:She just loves to debate me.

Those social sites ruin quite a few marriages.....my advice is STAY AWAY!!

Besides this is the only social networking site that you need!

Now for single guys - I HIGHLY recommend MyFace or Spacebook or adultfriendfinders or the adult section of craigslist

Oh forgot to add.. I have a buddy who lives with his girlfriend. He knew she'd been on facebook and she claimed she had nothing to hide so he asked for her login info - which she gave him. He proceeded to sit down and log in. He said she started pacing around the house acting like a mad woman, all fidgety and stuff. He's like whats wrong honey and she acted stranger yet. Then he sees some communication she had with some old boyfriend. Her side of the conversation went something like, "hey long time no see...I see you are looking just as handsome as ever..." to which the old boyfriend says yeah you too, and asks who she is dating. Her reply was...and here's the kicker:

"Oh I'm dating **** *****, you probably remember him he was the goofiest guy to ever graduate from ****** ********* High School!!"

He called me up and was all tore out of the frame about it. I said big deal, she didn't even sleep with him (yet).

well i'm sitting here one night bullsh!tt!ng with an ex and i hear a crash. i look out the window and some a$$hole just hit my neighbors car and keeps going. i jump up and tear out the door after him. takes me about 7 or 8 minutes to chase him down and when i walk in the door 20 minutes later my wife is on fire. i got up so fast i left everything right there.
OOOPS!!!
wont do that again.

chumbucket 06-11-2009 06:00 AM

Chuck. Your problem is you were born good looking instead of rich. I understand. Really, I do.

I don't have time to waste with that bullshiite social networking stuff. Like a couple others here, I have enough problems managing my emails and visiting my fishing/boating/kayaking/motorcycle sites. I won't even use AIM or any of the other instant messaging

randlemanboater 06-11-2009 08:12 AM

I have Facebook. It has been cool to see what old friends are up to. Also there are a lot of folks from my church on there. However, when old girlfriends send a "Friend" request, I simply don't accept. That way theres no problems.

And I agree with BR, this site great........now if we could just get some chicks to sign up:sly:

Nope:bat:

mpcalfa2 06-18-2009 08:51 AM

I started with this facebook crap as well about 7 months ago and like anything else it was great at first but became more of a chore then anything else. I agree about the ex issues as I've been in touch with some as well but it was going no where good quite quickly. Not worth giving up the kids although the little head is very strong willed. Also connecting with "friends" from 20 years ago isn't always nice. After a short time you realize why you haven't spoken in 20 years and now these idiots feel the need to let me know, "I hate mondays", or "I'm a fan of thumbwrestling", like I give a sh!t. If I haven't seen you in 20 years there's probably a reason. I want to start a rival site called facepuke where you can send enemy requests and then tell people what you really think of them. I'm looking for partners in this venture so anyone interested let me know.

parishht 06-23-2009 11:18 AM

I use Facebook for one thing only, keeping all contact methods open with my kids in Los Angeles, ( I live in Pennsylvania).
I DO NOT accept friend requests from anyone else and I actually have a made up name that very few people know. My wife and I actually share the account.

I have heard too many horror stories about this $h1^.

I'm thinking that this is the only "safe" way to go. Several family members (them young'uns, mostly) have been trying to get us to sign up, so I'm going to look into doing it like you suggest.

jrou111 06-24-2009 09:18 AM

Man, you guys must have run with the wrong crowd :oh:

I love facebook, my wife and all of our friends are on there, but we have nothing to hide :bat:

parishht 06-24-2009 11:05 AM

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, if you are into political discussions, of the world or U.S. type, check out a "Facebook" group called "Assume the Position".
