Selling my Jeep

I bought another tow vehicle this weekend. I bought a 1996 GMC Yukon, 2 door with 122k miles. Got it for $5600 and I'm very happy with it.

But now I must sell the Jeep. Its been a good one but not quite heavy enough to tow the V comfy for any long distances (4 hrs to the coast from here).

So here it is, on eBay of all places! I had to cancel a guy's bid this morning. Had zero feedback, which violates the terms of my auction ;)

Well Blue I was going to caution you to try the Yukon a while before making a decision about selling the Jeep, but too late. The Yukon will most likely be fine, both the Jeep and Yukon should be at their limits as far as stopping capability. The V's are just close enough to the weight limit to need dual axles and brakes on the trailer.

Re: Selling my Jeep

I understand your concern about stopping with the Jeep and Yukon, but I've pulled my V on a dual axle trailer with no brakes with a 4.0 liter Cherokee for years. I've actually owned two V's while I've owned the Jeep. Typically a trip to the Keys for me is 600 miles roundtrip. I currently pull my V with an 04 Trailblazer with no braking problems. Jeep was rated for 5500 lbs and the Trailblazer is rated for 6300 lbs. Another case of personal preference. Good luck with your Yukon.

Re: Selling my Jeep

Seacrets hit it dead on the head. I pull a trailer just about 5 days a week and I do have quirks as to how to load as for the circumstance. Generally the load I carry is 2400lbs plus the trailer weight (about 1500lbs) with a V6 standard shift F150. Personally I don't see much appreciable difference in the Jeep or the Yukon but if you ain't comfortable it don't matter what I think!

Yukon will be all you need!!

I have a Silverado with a tandam axle no breaks, before that a full size blazer with a single axle no breakes, and never had a problem!!

Boat full with trailer is about 5000 pounds, My pick up and your Yukon over 6000, your fine!

Good luck and watch the tranny in the yukon them years have had some problems and its $1200 for rebuilt!! If it doesn't have a tow package then get a tranny cooler ASAP.

Hope you get what you want out of her BR.

I'd buy it if it were hot pink like FERMs.

My buddy has already preached this to me. He has a Tahoe and put one on himself. He says its like a $65 part.

Tsubi - I have dual axles and brakes on the trailer.

The Tahoe pulls and stops the boat like a dream compared to the Jeep. I'm very happy. I'll spend whatever I have to on the Yukon to keep it running for the next 4 or 5 years or longer...

I used to have a Suburban but the Winston-Salem police department took liberty to total it for me and the gall to slap me with two moving violations for simply going through a green light (cop had the red light) Nuttin against cops though fellas! But this particular one wasn't paying attention and thought he could run the light at a busy intersection without slowing down and looking first. >:(

I went to court with my lawyer (me) and the judge wouldn't even let me introduce my photos of the scene into evidence. Claimed I didn't "build a foundation" for introducing the evidence. Prosecutor was a major beeatch too. I mean were they afraid the pictures would show that the cop was at fault or what? Actually it was just pictures from the WET thread, but they didn't know that. ;)

If you can't tell I'm still pissed about it and that was like 5 years ago.

I bet a man with no fingers could count on one hand how many times police officers have been found at fault in an accident.

Willy, RB, Hammer? Know of many?
:'(

Re: Selling my Jeep

As soon as the judge said you couldn't introduce your evidence for whatever reason...you shoulda gone out and gotten a lawyer and multiplied your demands by 10!!...they asked for it IMO!! >:( ...

Re: Selling my Jeep

Sorry to hear about your bad experience w/ WSPD.

I get found at fault every time I screw up, as do all the others that I know of. In fact, sometimes it seems like IA and the Bosses are trying to stick us even when we are not in the wrong.

A guy on my squad got a ticket for running a stopsign in a parking lot recently in a small town, he went to court and was found not guilty because stop signs on private property are not enforceable under NC law, but they still wrote him up at work even though it happened off duty, and in another county.

Next time, get hit by a GSO cop, the city is good about paying when we (any employee's, not just cops) are in the wrong.

Re: Selling my Jeep

Right on Skools, full size just like your 4 door in color and wheels but 2 dr like your diesel. ;D ;) With the Jeep I was taching like 2500 - 3000 rpms pulling the boat and the yukon pulls it at like 1500 - 2500.

Re: Selling my Jeep

Nervous here in NC....those jokers better start bidding it up on my Jeep!! Gotta get at least 2 grand outta the ol girl :-/

Dang tires cost me $300 :'(

eBay is so different for buyers and sellers. As the buyer, you worry about too many people bidding. As the seller, you worry that not enough will bid!

Life suks ;D

Re: Selling my Jeep

Tell me about it. I just sold my lower unit for $10!!! :'( :'( :'(

It almost cost me money to sell it to the guy. I think I made lest than $5 after all is said and done. Actually, that's not even true since I spent a good amount of time packaging the thing.

I definitely prefer being a buyer!

Re: Selling my Jeep

hey BR this will happen to you as well if you tow your V21 much. the load when breaking will break the factory c-clip on these transfer cases and then they grind lightly when driving in 2 by only but will bind in 4 by and destroy the transfer case so if and when it happens you can drive it with by removing the front drive shaft and then drive in 4 by with no problems, mine broke at the coast and i got it home no problems by taking the front drive out and then locked in4 by and came home. this is the best fix or fix now before it breaks.

Skools thanks man, never heard of such. I don't work on cars, or boat really, so how much would I expect to pay to have this done by a shop?

Thanks,
Blue Steering
