I can't wait to see what you get into next. |
I like it Skools.
Just saw this one up here this morning. http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/grd/1063052987.html Nice headlights. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../HighBeams.jpg:you: |
Well here it is, It's a 1974 according to the numbers. I got if off ebay as a parts machine. The motor and trans were both locked. I poured parts cleaner in both the motor and the transmission, even poured the cylinders full. let sit 2 days and it came loose in both the motor and trans. Over the weekend I worked on the starter, got it loose and now got the motor to finally run with some gas in the carb. will get more pics so you guys can see the next stuff. so far it runs and the machine is apart and pressure washed. I took the deck out new blades greased and all is working on the deck. Tested it under my 816S.
When found after sitting in a barn for 14 yrs in Charlotte, NC http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...d798_1_sbl.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...d99c_1_sbl.jpg |

Before when bought http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...d798_1_sbl.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...d99c_1_sbl.jpg After Restoration http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture004-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture005-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture006-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture007-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture008-1.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture009-1.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture010-1.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture011-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture012-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture013-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture014-2.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture015-1.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture016-1.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture017-1.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a46...cture018-1.jpg So what do you think of the ol 816 now? |
well i was removing one of the hubs and broke the trans axle in the rearend. so i have torn the trans down and now have it open with the tractor torn all a part. i'll take some pics of it tonight if i get a chance, then you can see what a real lawn mower / garden tractor should look like in the trans and motor setup.
|
Bumma!!...but I know it's in good hands so all will be OTAY in the end...:nice:
|
Sweet stuff Todd, what you doing with her when you get it fixed up, working it like a Gravely should be or are going to sell her?
|
well i was pulling a 14" bottom plow when the axle broke and split. so i'm working her like the ol machine was built too. not selling any of my gravelys love them. i've got several of both the old Model L walk behinds and 3 of the 800 series riders.

here's a few pics of the trans off the tractor and of it opened up.

That transmission says a lot about the quality of those old tractors. No wonder why it's been around for so long.
|
Remember when everything was built that way, and right here.
|
:nice: THAT is a GEARHEAD'S gearbox there...they coulda used that baby in Sherman tanks!!...pretty work :nice:

Nice Gravley Skool's! Here is my 1978 Wheel Horse C-101, 8 Speed I restored 12 years ago to maintain my 5 acres, I cut approx 3.5 of it....I retired it July of 2006 when I purchased my B7800 Kubota with a 72" finish mower...(more fishin time!) I also bought a Wheel Horse 36" tiller attachment that I have used maybe twice! I would like to find a mid 1950's Wheel Horse to restore now.
