Save it from the dumps.

RWilson2526 02-26-2009 10:30 AM

holy smokes 1958? who would have been the manufacturer at that time?

nipper 02-26-2009 11:52 AM

I think we all need to get together and purchase it for the V20 hall of fame and museum.

RWilson2526 02-26-2009 01:15 PM

I heard they were breaking ground for the new museum in MJ's yard!!

THEFERMANATOR 02-26-2009 01:28 PM

Yep, the toilet was already in the last I heard.

Blue_Runner 02-26-2009 01:30 PM

I think Skools and Bigshrimpn should restore it.

Too bad there isn't somebody nearby, like NY or Jersey! I didn't know they were around before the 60's That pre-dates the Bertram and Formula boats if that's the case. Wouldn't it have to be an Alim, only the Alim's and Glasspar's had the low deck like that one.

bradford 02-26-2009 05:57 PM

If I were closer that would definantly be in the yard.

RWilson2526 02-26-2009 09:48 PM

I'm definitely close enough I just dont have the yard for it.....people over the house for the first time walk out my back door and say "oh you have a boat" within about 2 seconds.

Skools Out 02-27-2009 12:02 AM

wish i was close i'd have it in my yard with all the other boats. looking like new.

chumbucket 02-27-2009 06:56 AM

MJ has too many museum pieces in his yard already.

Where the FLOCK is Brentwood :head: ...

macojoe 02-27-2009 12:20 PM

i don't believe there was ever a V20 before the 60's from any company!! And I would want proof before I would lay down a quarter!

Brentwood is out on Long Island. I sent the guy an email asking what he knows about the origin of the boat. Lets see what he says

macojoe 02-27-2009 03:51 PM

He will not answer or the answer will be it is a 1968

RWilson2526 03-02-2009 09:28 AM

Sent him this email:

"Saw your add for 1958 V-20. Do you have any history on the origin of the boat. I did not think anyone made a V20 earier than then 1960’s. Do you have any information as to the manufacturer? Are you sure its 1958?"

This was his repsons:
"I have the paper work for the boat it is a 1958 V20"

That's it....nothing else. People kill me....is that state registration paperwork, mfg paperwork ...WHAT?????? Maybe I pissed him off, I didnt think I came off like I was calling him a liar....oh well.

nipper 03-02-2009 10:55 AM

No, I cannot see that what you wrote would piss anyone off.

I knew of no mass produced deep V hulls before the 60's, except maybe a 24 footer that was described in a report of the "America's Cup Race" that it ran like no one had ever seen. It inspired the early Bertram. I thought Bertram ran the Miami to Nassau in one of the first "one off" deep V's in 61'. I'm sure it's an honest mistake but still think 58' is possibly a typo. I also believe 68' is reasonable, they had that low deckline in 1968 and until Wellcraft started mass producing them in 1970 with the same hull but a higher coaming under the windshield that we're more accustomed to.

Skools Out 03-04-2009 11:50 PM

that widsheild is not 68 more like he said 58

randlemanboater 03-08-2009 02:04 PM

Dang, its gone....anyone save a pic of it?

RWilson2526 04-03-2009 12:39 PM

The 1958 V is back for sale....no pics this time and I think he was only asking $100 for it the first time....we should try to get to the bottom of this, I emailed him for pictures.
