Homemade French Fries

Heat up some grease in a cast iron skillet. While that is heating git you sum taters and cut em up. Cut em how ever you want. I leave the skin on, just wash them real good first. When the grease is ready (nice and hot), throw them there taters in the grease and cook them on both sides til crispy. Lay the finished product on a plate lined with paper towels to drain off some of the grease. Squirt you a big ol pile of ketchup on a plate and eat them fried taters dipped in ketchup. Add hot sauce to your ketchup if you are a real man.

I used to do this all the time. I forgot about it until yesterday. I am going to do it this week. I can't wait!

I suppose you have a pic or two of those hot and crispy babies, right?

Blue_Runner 02-10-2009 08:24 AM

Bass, first off I haven't posted a picture in ages. Ever since work blocked photobucket. Second, I haven't used this recipe in probably 2 years because I forgot about it. BUT, if it pans out I am going to cook some up this week. I promise I'll give a good faith effort to post a pic or two.

bassarama 02-10-2009 07:47 PM

Well, don't go out of yer way for that matter. I was just teasing you

:sun: :beer::beer:

Blue_Runner 02-11-2009 09:54 AM

Blue_Runner 02-11-2009 03:09 PM

...we'll just say "equally as good" as corn.

Oh and if you really want to top it off dip them fried taters in some ranch dressing.....mmmmmmmmmm.

reelapeelin 02-12-2009 08:49 AM

Only thang I'd add is to take one of them there Sea Salt grinders and yank back n forth a few times whist holdin' it over them taters w/in split second of 'em comin' outta that grease:beer:

Oh and BR...ya spelt FRAINCH FRIES wrong!!...and I thought YOU'D know bedder!!...

Blue_Runner 02-12-2009 11:42 AM

Good point....I forgot about the salt. Gotta have it fo sho. Maybe even some Lowry's or another brand of seasoned salt.

nipper 02-18-2009 04:39 PM

Well, Blue, you cook up them there taters yet?

Blue_Runner 02-18-2009 04:49 PM

Nipper, the answer is an emphatic "YES" I did cook some taters. Well, actually I put that task off on Mrs. Blue while I made coarse chopped coleslaw and grilled up some "mini" burgers. She threw a curve ball at me in the process. She made some homemade tater "chips."

On the mini burger - instead of buying hamburger buns I bought dinner rolls and patted the patties a bit smaller than normal. I'm really sold on the mini burgers because I'm getting old and don't eat as much as I used to eat. This way I can eat 2 mini burgers instead of two whole ones and it is just the right amount. Plus the wife and kids like em that way too.

I've got the pics of the taters on my phone. Lord only knows how long it will take these pix to find their way onto here....I sure hope it ain't too long!! :hi:

Dont forget some fine ground pepper, and skip the ketsup, get yourself some A-1 steak sauce and oooh doggy, got yourself some fine sides. Better yet take them fries with salt and pepper and put some good brwon biscuit gravy right on top, goes best after a few beers and then with a Makers Mark Chaser

Blue_Runner 02-20-2009 01:48 PM

I bet you could put some gravy on a turd and it would taste good!

I ate some of the mini burgers the next day smothered in A-1. Love that stuff. They apparently know its good....A-1 is expensive.

Stinky_Hooker 03-02-2009 10:19 AM

We call em "home fries" round here. Oh and I like em with melted cheddar, jack, jalapeņos and hot dog chili on em...mmmMMMMMMM!!:sun:

Blue_Runner 03-03-2009 02:27 PM

Home Fries are the same as Home Boyz aka "Home Skillet" around these parts. :you:

If you want something real good that cole slaw you wife made when its done put about a TblS of thick BBQ sause in there but not too much just enough to see a slight change in color..

Blue_Runner 03-30-2009 09:21 AM

Sounds pretty good and kinda like the BBQ slaw you get around here at the BBQ restaurants. It is ketchup/vinegar based slaw w/ no mayo.

Nice! I wanted to plant taters this year but dad sold the tractor and all implements against my wishes. He owned this tractor for 10 years and we put 100 hours on it. He acted like we weren't getting any use out of it. Heck 10 hours is a long time sitting on a tractor. Just think of all you can do with a tractor in 10 hours! Well, he finally realized it so he bought another, better tractor, which was great. Problem is, now we have no implements....no plow, no box scrape, no bush hog, nuttin. My garden is nothing but weeds. :fight:
