Your President
Obama Snubs Nation's Heroes, Becomes the First President to Skip Ball
Honoring Medal of Honor Recipients in Over 50 Years Submitted by Julie on January 21, 2009 - 10:13pm. 2008 News Politics U.S. Government U.S. Politics World Politics Barack Obama may have stumbled over his words briefly during his inauguration, but he made an even bigger blunder later Tuesday evening. The newly sworn-in President opted not to appear at what should have been one of the most important Balls on his agenda that evening - "The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball." The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball was begun in 1953 for President Dwight Eisenhower's inauguration. The event recognized recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military award. There were 48 Medal of Honor recipients in attendance, who were undoubtedly disappointed by the new Commander-in-Chief's failure to show. Over the past 56 years and 14 inaugurations, no President has skipped this event - until now. The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball is sponsored by the American Legion, and co-sponsored by 13 other veteran's service organizations, including those such as the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Instead of attending this ball honoring our nation's heroes, Obama was busy making stops at 10 other official balls. Obama and his wife's first stop was at the Neighborhood Ball. From there they went to the Home State Ball for Illinois and Hawaii , the Commander-in-Chief Ball, the Youth Inaugural Ball, and the Home State Ball for Delaware and Pennsylvania . They finished off the night with brief appearances at the Mid-Atlantic, Western, Midwest , Eastern, and Southern regional Balls. Celebrities were a plenty at the balls, with Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Mary. J. Blige, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, will.i.am, Sting, Mariah Carey, and Leonardo DiCaprio in attendance at the Neighborhood Ball. In addition, the other nine balls also featured a star-studded lineup including Kanye West and Kid Rock at the Youth Ball, Marc Anthony at the Western Ball, and Cheryl Crow at the Western Ball. It was the party without all of the celebrities that Obama skipped. The very people who he sought to have support him during his candidacy and campaign, who have fought to protect this country, were snubbed in favor of publicity and the opportunity to rub shoulders - yet again - with the out-of-touch Hollywood elite! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHAME ON YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA. THESE BRAVE MEN CAME TO RESPECT YOU, YET YOUR BLATANT FAILURE TO RECOGNIZE THEM SENDS THEM AND ALL WHO HAVE FOUGHT TO DEFEND THIS NATION, THE WRONG MESSAGE. MAKE NO EXCUSES MR. PRESIDENT - WE NOW KNOW WHERE VETERANS STAND UNDER YOUR WATCH! This message needs to be sent around the world 100 times and personally to President Obama on a regular basis. Will you assist in getting that done? Don't add or detract anything to or from this, and also be RESPECTFUL, no matter how you feel about it! r |
Willy he's our president and if he did purposely snub the vets shame on him. I'll agree with you on that. Billy Mac:beer:
|
He is NOT my president, and I started to post this last week. I also was gonna post the picture of hime getting re sworn in on the second day WITHOUT a BIBLE. Yes that's right, when he retook the oath he did it WITHOUT a BIBLE. And hid first order of business is to close down GITMO, followed by the MASSIVE pork barrel bills he has been signing in. Were getting change alright, it's what will be left in OUR pockets after he is done.
|
:bat:um i second that he's NOT my Prez either.:bat:

Is that all you've got on him? :head: Geez, I expected more out of ya'll! How 'bout some really good stuff...you know, smokin da week in the oval office, bangin some white chick in the rose garden. Having Ayers over for a cigar and a good old chat about how to end the world.
Ferm you know the only reason there was a 2nd swear in was to keep the McCainers from talking chit, but ya'll still find somethin to beotch about. Until you come up with something factual and interesting, why don't ya'll just PM each other? :sun: Still love all ya'll, but dang! |
Now here is something both factual and highly interesting:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/0...orn/index.html :you: |
Im with BR, until one of you guys decide to run for President (if you think you could do a better job) :zip:.....keep the remarks to yourselves or PM's......:fight:

I try to stay out of political stuff, especially on fishing and boating sites, but I gotta ask, Are we not allowed to voice each others opinions? Isn't that what makes this a great country? The fact that we are allowed to have differing opinions and voice those opinions via a democratic vote?
Now having said that, I will say that I am very displeased that this is the man we have chosen to lead this most powerful nation in the world. We'll see how things go. Let's just say that I am very afraid of what this country and the world will be when my grandson gets older. |
I was just kidding around - hence the smiley =:sun:
Also I just asked a question, "why don't ya'll.....?" No hard feelins dawgs!! :hi: I still plan on giving Skools free corn at the Southeast Old Thresher's Reunion....if Willy and Ferm come down they can have some too. But I might give Willy a piece with a worm in the end.....OOOOOOO, BURN!!! :you: I'm with you CB - its cool to see lots of perspectives on things. Which is why I so willingly give mine... |
Plus its like comedy relief to come in here and see what they will come up with next!! I get a chuckle every time!
 |
I better check my corn next time it may be Willy's instead. i knew you were BR. It's a Free Country Under GOD right? lol I hope he does well but doing this type stuff he isn't looking any better in my eyes. Hey if he takes our guns the next thing he will want to take our fishing rods. in that case lol :bat::bat::bat::bat::nut::fight:
|
Tell ya what, If he takes my guns, I'll join up with you guys and we'll march to Washington.
Don't worry about the corn, I always give you the piece with the worm!! You haven't said anything about it yet!! |
he's not gonna take your guns. He's gonna take all the ammo away. :bat:
|
hey guys on a brighter note, i got my saltwater sportsman in thursday and they did an interview with the prez and from what i got out if it he is for the recreational angler and really not up the commercial guys a@@ like others. he put it this way, rec sportfishing is a multi billion dollar industry that everyone can enjoy and should enjoy and he realizes that anglers are the greatest conservationist and that the commercial guys really dont give a hoot about the preservations of the fisheries. if what he says is actually true that woule be good for us sportsman. growing up where i did, at least half of my friends fathers were commercial fishermen so i have been around the stuff and beleive me, what they catch in by catch in one month i couldnt catch in 5 years. fishing every weekend of the summer. obama still does alot of stuff i think is ridiculous though

I'll say I did not vote for him but as long as he is in office he is my president. I'll support him but I do not support his agenda and I hope most of it never gets passsed. He should have gone to this Ball but it his choice and its my right to speak out against what he does.
|
Save your brass and reload
Or my preference would be to knap my own stone points....slower death that way, plus I bet it hurts like a B*TCH! LOL So far none of us have lost our guns or ammo....let's not put the cart before the horse. The glass is half full fellas. Half full. |
I call bs on all of you
I CALL B U L L S H I T If I wanted to see an ill tempered debate I would quit coming here, on go on THT and sit my big azz down in the Bilge! I know many of you go there too, so don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. Please dont let this site sink to the level of the Bilge.on all of you. :fight: But if you want to have a P I S S & M O A N forum, make a seperate one. :fight: Sorry to rant, but I come here because you guys are good, regular guys that I would and have enjoyed hanging out with. :bsflag::bsflag::bsflag::bsflag::bsflag::bsflag::b sflag: |
The jury's still out on whether or not he's gonna be successful...I'm not convinced either way...but it seems to me, love him or hate him, ya dang well better hope what he does WORKS...the sniveling little whiney-pot Limbo wants him to fail...well let's all get up every morning and just shoot ourselves in the foot to get started...that'd be like bein' on a pro football team and hopin' ya LOSE the season because you don't particularly like the coach...:head:...and if'n they come to get my ammo, they'll get it all one round at a time right outta the end of the barrel!!!
Here ya go!!!...CATCH DIS!!... |

Well, WILLY started it!!... |
I have decided to give your president the opportunity to show his colors before I said anything, he did, in the first couple of weeks. We need this man to do what he said in his campaign promises that so many were enthralled with. So far on his first day in office he snubbed (intentionally) the ball I posted about. In the next couple of weeks his cronies in the house and senate have passed a bill and are working on a bill that will be the single biggest government expenditure in our history. It is being touted by him as the vital effort to get our economy back in shape. It has less than ten percent of it going to help our economy and so called infra-structure and the rest is social change agenda spending the socialists have not been able to get passed in the past. It is a massive pork spending bill and has nothing to do with our economy other than put our children in the largest single debt structure in the history of man and government.
Yes, he has shown his true color, the change mantra was just that, a mantra. No if you guys want me to stop expressing my opinion in civil discourse with my friends let me know and I will. Otherwise just don't read the post, thats what I do when I see it is something I am not interested in. And Blue the only worms I eat are floating on the bottom of the bottle. |
I don't care wether you like him or not, I don't care what subject it is. I just don't want this place to turn into the snakepit that the bilge on THT has become. Three things that shouldn't be discussed here, Politics, Religon and anything about your wife. Brother Willy, I would never stop you from having your say, I don't think me or anyone else could stop you anyway. I just don't want the member VS member mentality to catch fire here as it has in the Bilge Forum on THT. And THT is okay, but it's not WellcraftV20.com!
|
I don't think you have to worry about that Franco. Not here.
And willy did start it, so........................ And as far as the ammo thing goes, from what I've read, reloads will eventually be a no-no too. Everything will need to be serialized.:cen: |
I read the bildge once on tht. other than that I have not even looked. To be honest with you having adult male friends I can bounce my feelings and sentiments off of is rather important to me about a variety of subjects. I always respect others opinions but also like voicing mine cause I am always right!!
And who knows maybe some will say "Hey Willy has got a point " and maybe I can help sway some opinions in a way that can be beneficial. Maybe I can be swayed on some myself. This is a boating forum first and always, you guys are my friends first and always, I like talking with my friends. I would not discuss mens wives or their religion because they are their personal relationships that do not effect me and are none of my buisness. Politics and what happens to our country is everyones buisness and effects all of us and our heirs. The greatest discourse has always occurred in public forums in regards to politics whether it was in the public square of Boston in 1776 or in the electronic forums availavle today. To me even twisted minds like Blue are worth engaging, he and I have more in common than most on this board due to a love of somethings traditional and natural and how we connect to them and old hippies like Franco and me can talk, even heatedly at times and still enjoy a beer at the bar or a day on the water. Thats life, thats being engaged and challenged. I love it. |
Group hug!!!!
