87 V project

A freind of mine is torn between prting this one out or selling it as is. I'll post pics in the morning. Its an 87 I/O set up. No motor, or drive. transom plate(Merc) is still in the boat. Transom looks ok, soft spot in the floor around the back to back seats, port side window busted out(neighbors kid). Needs a bath real bad, trailer is fare, needs some work, but it appears solid. Rod boxes are intact. Would be a good project for some one that has a bad hull/good engine. Asking $750, located in Charleston, SC

and before any of ya'll get too excited about parting the boat out, if he doesn't sell it like it is, I've got firts dibs on the bow rail and the dash panel

Spare...is that boat out off Folly Rd near a soccer complex?...

I can see my Honda hangin' on a bracket on that FULL transom...just don't have the bucks to jump into it right now...for that money though, I oughtta just get it and store it til I can do something w/it...hmmmm...:head:

Ya think that trailer's up to a trip to Spartanburg??...

spareparts 10-30-2008 07:44 AM

it might take tires and bearings, but the frame looks good enough

randlemanboater 10-30-2008 01:22 PM

Reel, isn't your Honda a 20"er?

Hate to rain on the thought parade, but many discussions went on when I was looking for a V about a 25" motor being the minimum to put on a bracket because of the "dunking" issue.

That's why I got an open transom with my 20" Johnzuki.

:head:

reelapeelin 10-31-2008 08:06 AM

Yer readin' my mind, RB...since the hull is at such a good price (IF I were to do this...BIG IF) I'd be lookin' into findin' a long mid-section to replace the shorty...I'd even consider a 30"er to REELY get 'er outta the water:sun:

Careful what you ask for...if we knew what REELY went on in the female mind, it'd be so scary the dog wouldn't come out from under the bed!!...:nut:

I didn't pull any panels, but he was planing on using the tank like it was. Boat is over in Hobcaw, let me know if you are thinking about coming down and I'll get up with the owner to meet you. You might even know him, he's been a boat mechanic around here for years, his name is Carrey Davis, he used to work out of Shem Creek Marina, before they turned it into a drystack only.

BTW, funny thing I saw in the hospital book store the other day. I erally did see this and thought this, I even told my wife about it, she didn't think it was all that funny. I was looking for something to read while my wife was having her operation and I noticed there were 5 or 6 bookos with titles like "7 things to know about your man" or "How to understand your husband". I thought, man, these books are like 2" thick, I could explain everything a woman needs to know about a man in like 4 pages, with one being the table of centents, and one being the appendix. I kept looking for a book for a man to understand a women, and it dawned on me, there isn't one! Because no one know how, and if they did, it would change in about 20 min.

Reel, so are you up for this? Am I going to have to get the entire V20 community to talk you into it. Don't be scared

csvencer 11-10-2008 10:45 AM

spareparts 11-10-2008 10:51 AM

waitng to see if Reel is going to bite, I'll let you know when he starts to part it out, what parts are you interested in?

csvencer 11-10-2008 12:04 PM

The two teak back hatches (they should fit my 84 outboard) and if he still has the glovebox I would like that as well. Nothing major, just parts I would like to add back to mine.

ya'll start making a list of what ya'll want off this boat, I'll go take pics of the items and get a price for it. If nothing else, it might just make reel go ahead and pull the trigger

spareparts 11-14-2008 12:01 PM

ok, its official, we are parting out the boat, I'm taking the bow rail and the dash assembly, let me know what ya'll ae interested in. Randleman, the trailer will be available, but just like any other old trailer out there, its going to need some work, it doesn't look to bad, Reel looked at it, aske him what he thought of it.

csvencer 11-14-2008 01:11 PM

What do you want for the back cabinets and glovebox? Are they in pretty good condition or rotted out bad?

Didn't take notice of condition of glove box, but hatch doors are in great shape...of course will need new finish...top of transom hatch-lids are in good shape as well as...get this...THE HATCH LINERS!!...:sun:

csvencer 11-14-2008 02:39 PM

I don't need the liners but that is good to know. I am sure someone on here needs them! I am just hoping the doors fit on the space I have next to the outboard. Hopefully its close enough to the layout of the I/O.
