Looks like some money may be invested in this one
http://keys.craigslist.org/boa/814824333.html Very very clean looking CC, worth keeping an eye on. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WELLC...RCHQ3aUSQ3a101 Another nice one, high price tag though http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/boa/814579650.html |
Just curious as to why the owner of the 1979 cuddy in the keys proclaims 1979 to be the best model year ever for the v20.
Good question when we all know that "1989" was the best year.
Clearly 79' was the best year!
Why is '79 the best year? I noted the owner of the '79 in the Keys indicated lots of freeboard in his V. I have a 1991 V-20 cuddy, and it really does not have much freeboard because of the raised deck. Did the 1979 have the lower deck?
Hey that high priced one has auto pilot!! COOL! I would love to have that!

In the late 70's early 80's Wellcraft raised the decks giving you less free board cause of the coast guard requiring the flotation in the newer models. There for my 75 was the bet year as I had more free board :hide:
The only flotation in my 79' was the foam around the gas tank. There is no foam between the stringers or anywhere else for that matter. I think thats the big reason why you see alot of the older boats still around. No wet foam to promote rot.
My 1990 doesn't have that much foam in it either
hey jackasses. wellcraft has stated many times that 1986 was the pinnacle of the V20. the holy grail, so to speak. all before were the experiments and all after were the "downhill" models.
jackasses. |
Charlie, not sure how you pull it off, but your brash character is somehow endearing.
By having said that in the previous post, please do not get me wrong; I am not gay.

Also, the only foam I could find in mine was around the factory fuel tank which caused it to rot out beyond belief. |
I know I'm new here but that Charlie fella seems like one smart dude. I have to agree with him
Wellcraft was all over with these boats, some have foam and some of the same year won't have any. same with the caps, some are high some are low, but it was after the 70's when coast gaurd required foam or some type of flotation in all boats, and this is when the decks got raised.
Mine was a 75 before the deck raising, but I know longer have it to measure it?? But I did see another members that lives on the cape and forgot what year it was, but man did he have a ton of room under that deck!! |
I was told that 1984 was the best year, the guy who sold me mine told me so.
Did anyone notice that the expensive one has backwards NAV lights...??? Look at that bottom left pic, looks like green on port red on starboard... Most be limited edition.

you are so picky!! LOL
That center console on ebay is sweet... The owner of the high priced one in Oceanside is smoking something if he thinks he'll get anything close to what he's asking... and $9500 is his reduced price...
What a deal!
1992 wellcraft steplift v20 with a 150 Yami for $2,500 and no bidders!
Although it ends in the next 8 minutes, I'm sure that if you contact the owner you can buy it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1992-...mZ220272645040 |
Speaking of Wellcraft being all over the board, when I started to replace my transom I removed the metal tag with the hull ID #. I found that the tag stated the boat was a 1976 but the ingraving of the hull was a 1975. My title and registration have always stated 1975!
