treatment went well last night. My wife is there with her now, shes got an appointemnt with a specialist today, then she goes home. If everything goes well this morning, she well be treated outpaitent from here on. We've got some questions about that though, right now, including prehydration, chemo, and posthydration, its taking around 11 hours for her treatment, thay must begoing to change something, just one more of many questions we have for the doctors. 58 treatments to go.
|
got through with her third treatment, this one was outpatient everything went well, her white blood count was a little down, but everything else checked ok. 57 to go
|
Sounds like good news. Keep your chin up brother, ya'll will get through it!
We'll keep praying for ya Kendall! |
fourth treatment went well, going outpatient now. Magnesium was a little low, all other blood levels were ok. The medicine is starting to affect her walking a little bit, the Doctors told us its expected as the chemicals can affect her nervious system. 56 to go. next week she only get one chemical, should take a whole lot less time.
|
How many treatments per week?
Sounds like good news to me. God bless ya'll! |
she's on 10, six week cycles. One treatment per week, 1 chemical the first week, 2 the second thru the 4th, 1 the fifth, then five days of oral medication the sixth while she's reevaluated for the next cycle. Just found out the oral medication for 5 pills is going to run around $1200( I thought the nausa meds were high at $12 per pill). We had to make a special application to medicade to cover what blue cross won't. waiting to hear back from them.
|
It's incredible the resilliance of our youngsters.
I hope all works out well with the funding. Prayers are with her. |
my prayers are with you and your family

Kendall is on her last week in the first cycle, she's doing OK, this week shes taking oral chemo, 5 pills for $1200, thank God for disabilty coverage! Shes starting to lose her hair, it doesn't bother her as much as it bothers her mother and I, its a visual reminder of whats going on with her. We've been over whelmed here lately. After my wife's sister found out she had breast cancer, my wife went and had a mamogram herself, guess what, she had to outdo her sister, we got the results back yesterday and it came back positive. We haven't gotten the lab report yet, so they are scheduling surgery for the 15th, unless we find out its more aggresive. I'm about at my full capacity, I don't know what else could happen, i told someone the other day that I'm going to hit the lottery or get hit by a truck, the sob pointed out that I could be like Earl Hickey and do both, i had to laugh at that one. See the caringbridge site for more updates. Thanks for the prayers and concerns.

sh!t like this makes one wonder if there is a higher power, and what the phuk the plan is.
would a god make people suffer like this? babies? |
I'm sure it's tough, but hang in there and be strong for those counting on you...we are all wishing you and yours the best...
|
Keep the faith spare. We're all praying for you and your family. In the face of doubt and uncertainty you gotta try to stay positive and keep praying for the best. You're in the middle of a marathon right now, the "wall" people hit when they feel their lowest. I know it sounds trite, but a strong positive attitude can go a real long way. You've got a wonderfully strong little girl to handle such a hard life. Use her as an example of strength. You can do it! She's strong, you and your wife are strong! You WILL get through this! We're all praying spare, good luck!
CTT, God works through tragedies. No one knows the plan or it's path, but God will make himself known through everything. It's easy to blame him for doing nothing, but trust that He is with her every step of the way, sharing His love with her. Have faith... and God does listen to everyone, no matter what your belief is, He believes in you. Try reading the book "The Shack." It really opens your mind up to a different way of living with God. It's not a "church" book, but it is a great read, and not too long. I'm not a church going person, but I believe I have a relationship with God, and this book hits home for me. Give it a try. God bless you and your family spare. We'll be praying. |
Keep that little girl smiling.
|
How ya doing Spare? Any news about Kendall? More prayers sent bro!
|
she's doing ok this week, we finshed up the oral Chemo on Sunday, she gets two weeks off before she starts the second cycle. I forgot to give her anti-nausea medicine Sunday night, and guess what we were cleaning up at 2 am. Shes a tough little girl, she handles it better than her mother and I do. She's braging now about she only says ow, and doesn't cry when they pull the needle out of her shunt. Her hair is starting to fall out pretty good now, it bothers her mother an me more than her, this is the first time since we started all this three years ago that we have a constant visual reminder of whats wrong with her, before you could forget she was sick for a moment or two. SHe is scheduled to start back on Chemo on the 16th, the day after my wife has her surgery.

Still prayin' for your family. Wish I wasn't gettin' gray and losin' hair, I would love to do Locks for Love for kids in this situation.
|
God gives us strength at these times, I pray for you and for Kendall, may it please be as easy as it can be and a speedy recovery.
|
Hopin' for the best to Kendall and your wife...tuff times ahead...be strong for them...we'll be thinking of you...I remember hearin' a story about a dad who's kid was losing all their hair...he kept his head shaved for the duration, so they'd look alike...
|
My family and I pray for you and your family every night SP.
I know it is tough, but keep faith and believe, God will show you the way. |
I already keep my hair shaved pretty close, my oldest daughter(8) told her mother that she wanted to grow her hair out long, then cut it off for her sister to have wig. One of these days, when they are both fighting like cats and dogs, I'll have to remind them about sisterly love.
|
SP, do you know about "Locks of Love"?
They collect hair from donors and make wigs for kids who need them. My middle daughter has sent hair twice to them. (you have to have 10 inches cut off to send) http://www.locksoflove.org/ |
yes I do, thats what my oldest was refering too. My wife was kidding around with my oldest telling her she ws the only one in the family that was going to have any hair( I don't have much to begin with, my youngest is loosing hers to Chemo, my wife will probably loose hers when she starts chemo), so she said she was going to shave her head too, we got a scream and a few laughs out of it
|
everything went well with my wifes surgery today, took longer than expected( 5 hours), but they got all the tumors, and the preliminary report on her lymphnodes came back negative. Let all hope the final report comes back negative as well. Shes doing well( can't keep her mouth from moving, its working fine) shes on enough pain killer that she doesn't feel any pain. She said "today, its all about me!" Shes scheduled to come home Friday. Keep us in your prayers, its gotten us thru alot allready
