For PINKY that is. I know this will upset RM as he so loved seeing the PINKY pics, but she is just about done for. Before I left on my trip the fuel pump went out again(for about the 10th time in 2 years), and when I put my toolbox in the back the floor broke and it came down on the gas tank. It also needs tires and some other various work done to it, and that 3 week old fuel pump is growling AGAIN! So I got to weighing out what it would cost to fix her(and keeping in mind how much I have in her already which thankfully isn't much). And I came to the conclusion that the $1800 I put into building her up 2 1/2 years ago was money well spent, and she really wasn't worth sinking a bunch more into her.

Well my uncle told me about 2 months ago he was considering selling his DAKOTA. So when I got back I called him up and made him an offer and he took it. So I am now the owner of a 2000 DODGE DAKOTA EXT. CAB 4X4 with a 4.7L V8 and factory tow package with 36,670 origanal miles on it kept under a carpool it's whole life. He owed me a few favors from some work I had done for him in the past, so he took $7K for it cash. So that money from my flat's boat sale went to good use, and I feel like I got a good deal out of it.

Heres my newest member.

And my faithful PINKY. She gave me her all, and considering what she has been through she served me proper.

Will that Dakota tow the Hydra easily?

Shouldn't have any issues towing now. The old CHEROKEE handled it fairly easily up to 55, so a V8 DAKOTA with a full on tow package ought not have any troubles. It sure is snappy! I've had a major crush on the 2000 DAKOTA with the 4.7L V8 since I worked at a dealership, I just couldn't afford one back then. If it hadn't been for the sale of my PRO-LINE before I left on vacation, and his not actively listing this truck for sale. I still couldn't have afforded one. This one was actually his girlfriends. She had bought 2 of them years back, one a club cab and one a quad cab. Well with the price of fuel they couldn't afford both of them, and she recently broke her ankle and wanted the extra room the quad cab has. So I lucked out. She BABIED this thing it's whole life, she was in tears watching it go. But I assured her it would go to a good home.

very nice, i preferred the 4.7's over the older 5.2's and 5.9's you should have plenty power with the 4.7

Thanks, and as for PINKY hopefully my nephew will grow up a little one of these days and get beyond her pinkness and decide he wants her to get back and forth to school. Either that, or parts. It doesn't have many miles on the engine since I built it, and ALOT of the parts in her are new. It was just getting to the point though of every time I turned around I was working on her instead of being able to work on other peoples stuff. And the 4.7L has always been one of my favorites. His other DAKOTA has the 5.9L in it, but you couldn't get me to take that one off his hands. A 5.9L gets about 14 MPG on a good day, this thing averaged 18.4 on my way home according to the overhead.

I blame it on ethanol myself. I never lost a pump until E-10 showed up down here. I put 4 in from autozone within 6 weeks, and then I put an OEM in and it made it 12 months and a week. Of course being one week over the 12 months they said to bad, so I went back to the aftermarkets. And I know it's not trash in the fuel system as it has an almost new tank in it. It got really annoying having to work on my JEEP everytime I drove it.

And I almost felt bad taking the truck for $7K, ALMOST!

Sorry RM, I just couldn't justify piecing her back together again. I had a yard full of JEEPS with good parts when I started driving her. Now I just have a yard full of junk JEEPS as most any good part has been robbed from em. It gets expensive keeping one running when you have to actually buy new parts.

Well, as long as you give her a proper burial at sea, I guess it will be ok.

Really, nice new ride!

I hate to see a pinky get worn out but when they start to rust its time to go.
