New to boating, do not want to get the wrong kind. |
Re: what brand oil
Welcome to the board!!
What you got for a motor? Is it a new motor?? If it is a motor that is new or under warrantee then use what the manufacture sugest!! But if it is a older motor you can go with most any 2 stroke oil that has TCW3 in it. I use Penzoil or Walmart brand (they are the same) and cheap! Good Luck, and lets see some pictures! |
Re: what brand oil
We have had great results with the Mercury/Quicksilver stuff (of all things).

Re: what brand oil
Walmart or YamaLube, don't use Quicksilver in OMC it has additives that create some seal issues and tends to gum up jets in them. I usually use Walmart / Penzoil. If you want the good stuff go with either YamaLube or Klotz

Re: what brand oil
Welcome aboard!!!
Back when I had to mix, I used Walmart brand, always worked well for me. |
Re: what brand oil
What MJ sez. I used Yamalube at my mechanics suggestion and it was a rebuilt motor.
I also use Yamaha Ring Free every now and then. |

Re: what brand oil
I run PENNZOIL synthetic blend in my 140 JOHNNY-RUDE, and I'm running MERCURY PREMIUM in my 150 MERC. I personally like the PENNZOIL and have had good luck with it. I'm only running the MERCURY oil in my MERC because the previous owner did, and I figure if it's lived this long on it why change now. Plus SAM'S CLUB had MERC oil for $15 a gallon. I know over on SCREAMANDFLY, alot of guys run the PENNZOIL in there race engines and say they like it.
