7/10/07 Fluke

Well Kenny and I headed out for another day of Fluking, and the results were the same!! 4 hours to limt out!

I have a couple of pic but the camera is in the boat and we are going out at 5 am again tomorrow!

Do you guys want me to post pic's?? Once you seen 200 pounds Flounder in a cooler they all look the same!!

I always used wide gap hooks fot years, gold ones and they break all the time, or rust after the first trip.
So I started to use Stainless Wide gap and they were much stronger and almost never break.
But the wire has gotten thiner I think, cause they are bending all the time.

So a guy told us of a VMC wide gap made of perma steel and they last and last, but they are no were to be seen?
I emailed VMC and they refered me to a company that sells all there hooks.
But when I talked to the guy he could not find them and is going to be calling VMC to see if we can get thjem??

In the mean time I decided to try a Gamy Octpus 6/0 And I tell you I never missed a fish all day!
So I have found my new hook! ;D

You don't anchor for Fluke, you drift they like to chase there bait, not like there cousin th flounder which lay in one area and you chum for them.

Sea bass all over there but I don't have a commercial Lic for them so I leave them alone unless I have a request for some.

Not to many sigle pic, I hate to stop while the bite is on and when the bite stops they buryed under tons of fish!

But I weill try to get some tomorrow.

I only use gamy hooks. even down to the 1/0 for porgys with the kids up to circle hooks when chasing Striped bass.

MJ, how big a drift do you do? Do you start off bigger and work your way down to a more consintrated area?
Thanks!!

Re: 7/10/07 Fluke

I have many areas that I drift, some long some short.

I know my area now so i know which are long and short. Some I will go long then shorten up like you say to stay on top of the fish.
