Tin that 22 footer is the one I was on for about 30 minute ride in Barnegat Bay. Superb. I love that winged enclosure for the CC's. I know some of the others like world cat are very pricey but I've seen a lot of good used ones, that 20 footer with a single 90 honda will fly fully loaded and SiiiiiiiiiiP gas. I just have a feeling that I had to say it too you, with the parameters you listed I think it's the only way to go. At least keep it in mind and I won't have to worry about you 40 miles off shore in a Panga ;D

Thanks for the compliment Tin, I really love my new boat. I shopped from Cocoa Beach to Stuart, I looked at everything and for the money I spent I'm tickled. And she runs her *** off too. I've been a shade over 50 on the GPS. Only changes I'm gonna make are swapping the seats for a leaning post and maybe a T-top - I like idea of a second cooler and storage under the cushion.
I;m not sure about the t-top - when Willy came down and fished with me, 3 of us could fish and cast from anywhere in the boat - not sure I wanna give that up. If I didn't have the console space I have, I would have wanted it to mount the electronics. But everything fits neatly. I use a handheld VHF for 2 reasons - I stay pretty much close to the beach or in the river so range is not an issue - and I didn't want to maout a big antenna on the console. If I put a t-top on the boat that wouldn't be an issue. But thats one expensive ant. mount. Hey Tin, I'm about 20 minutes away from the Vee Twin factory, they are on Hwy US 1 just south of me - here is a pic of the console on my McKee Craft

Franco, very nice! Congratz! As much as I like them, I too would not want the t-top for casting reasons. Your console is perfect, love the flush mounted electronics. Ever think of installing trim tabs? Those Lenco Troll n' Tabs are supposed to be awesome but cost a fortune.

I've heard nothing but good about the Mckee crafts. A local guide out this way just got the 24' Freedom for offshore flyfishing and uses a 17' Mako on the flats.

You've got some great fishing down your way. Several years ago I caught a 35" Snook off the North Jetty at Sebastian inlet mid day on light tackle...1" too big! Do you know if a guy named Tom still runs the bait shop there? I hear they spent a lot of money on that jetty but have not seen it since.

Hey Tin, come on down and fish some time, always room in my boat!!! Tom still works at the tackle shop. I don't know him well, but he is good friends with my brother. I have a set of Volvo QL series trim tabs, but can use them - they are a unique setup - electric - and I cant access space to run the wiring harness due to the hull being foam filled. Those lencos are interesting but cost a ton, you'd have to give up one Norton for a set. I really haven't been in a situation where tabs would have been that much of a help. Only if someone is moving from side to side in the boat, then I just tell them to sit their *** down somewhere. It comes out of the hole pretty well and planes very quickly. I'm gonna put the Volvo tabs on ebay if you know anyone interested.

Hey Franco, I may take you up on the offer. I was thinking of heading down for bike week, although I'm bikeless as of now :( I've got a buddy in New Smyrna who I was talking to yesterday who is trying to get me down too who also has a boat. Maybe I'll wait a little longer, like when the Rays are cruising up the coast, love that cobia fishing! Snook, Reds and Specs not too bad either!

I'll have to see how work is going but think it will be doable. I'm trying to coincide this with buying a boat down there if I can't find what I want up here for the price I want. How is the fishing in March around you? I think it's a little early for Rays north of you but maybe not around Sebastian's. I'll have to do some research.

probably the worse time to fish here is july and august - typically too hot - but it has more opprutunities than most places. What are you looking for in a boat, *have a buddy that has a V20 cc with a 200 merc on the back, low hours and I think you could get a good deal on it

to further bolster the seaworthiness debate of the Panga, see Real Pirates in the general section,Nov. 8th, page 6. There were pictures but they are gone now. Those pirate boats were defenitly Pangas. What a great endorsement....pirates and drug smugglers, you gonna argue with them?

Re: Pimp my V20

Panga's traditionally have nearly no deadrise (flat bottom) at the transom. This is by design so they can plane with little HP and can be towed/pushed up and down the beach by truck (no trailer).

Don't confuse pangas with long narrow cigarette style deepv-hull's with a 24 degree deadrise at the transom. They are not even close to the same boat. Offshore racing style boats can handle the nasty offshore conditions at speeds where pangas will fall apart.

I'd tow that boat up to NC and sell it!!

Carolina boats ARE the way to go...but remember some of the good old boys in Wanchese run Wellcraft v-20's out to the blue water for tuna! I have heard some of the boat builders have taken measurments off the wellcraft v-20 hull and modified it for the biggerboats.
