Re: Installing NFB Steering Helm
Thanks guys, I especially appreciate the the reference to the flock. Good one RAP ;)
Thanks for not deleting me MJ. Billy Mac, thanks for asking about the boat. I have a few more things to do, but nothing major (that I know of). I have a couple more electrical things to take care of like the bilge pump and a couple of switches at the dash. I also have to install the steering, throttle, and shifter cables. Man, I've had nothing but trouble with these things. After all this time, it wasn't until I had the cables installed that I realized the cables were frozen. Who knows the last time they worked... So, I went down to buy a used set of cables. I came home installed them and after hooking everything up on the engine end, and running the cables through the hose and through the gunnel, it turns out that one cable is shorter than the other. So, I'm about 6 or 8 inches too short on one of the cables. I'm so tired of running cables!!! So, once we get a warm day, I'll get out there and do it again. I still haven't started the engine yet. I don't know what to expect. Because I didn't have things ready to start the engine, I didn't winterize it either. I hope I'll be okay. What started off looking like a very mild winter, has changed drastically over the last couple of weeks. Oh yeah, I also left the batteries in the boat (though covered). Am I hosed or what? Good news is that the bracket and engine installation went smoothly. Sorry for the long post. I guess I should post more frequently instead of these annual reports :P |
Re: Installing NFB Steering Helm
I leave my batterys in all winter not a problem. As for foging the motor, you don't have to get it started to fog, It is best you do, but if all else fails take the plugs out put some Mystery oil in therre and turn the motor over with a wrench on the fly wheel.
This will keep things from rusting up over the winter. Now that your back and got the motor and bracket done were are the pictures?? ;D |
Re: Installing NFB Steering Helm
Hey M.J., thanks for the advice on the mystery oil. I think Skools told me the same thing a while back, I just forgot to do it. Doh!
As for pictures, they're not the best, but the pictures in the gallery are still current as of now. How's your V coming along? I haven't read through the prior posts yet, but were you able to get that motor working right? |
Re: Installing NFB Steering Helm
Well when I put it away it was running perfect! I had to replace a power pack and all seems well. we will see in May when we get the cover off!!
My fingers are crossed!! |
