OK MJ, let me know. But do not despair. Mine sank and I still own it. It took a lot of work to get it back together. I do not think I mentioned that the new 2004 Ficht blew a powerhead 20 minutes after first launch. Water in the fuel??? It's been at Millway Marina for 3 weeks now but the new powerhead is installed and should be ready for this weekend. Thank goodness for the 7 year non-declining warranty. The motor was used (demo motor with 40-50 hrs), but never registered so I got the spring warranty deal from Evinrude. Now I get to break it in properly myself and I really do have a new motor.

Glad to here you made it home. That is one tuff motor you got there MJ. As far as I am concernerned a good bilge pump is an important piece of safty equipment as your fire extinguisher. It may not stop the boat from sinking but it could possibbly delay it. With the amount of water you had in your boat I am amazed that you didn't sink. Again I'm glad you are still with us to share all your pearls of V-20 wisdom.

I already found him another replacement Wellcraft. A bit longer though at 22' Full transom, bracket and 200 hp Yammi. Problem is; it sold in about one or two days. I knew it was a good boat when I saw it. Oh well. :-[

CB you talking about the 248's etc.? I have been noticing a lot of them around here. Guys love em.
I got to tell you as much as I love my V, or loved :'( if I was fishing commercially and my regular routine was out of sight of land by a good distance it would not be my boat. It would be my preference over a lot of other boats in similar size range because for a 20 footer it is probably the best over all design in my opinion. ' But with what I have seen read or heard in my lifetime being multi miles offshore on a daily basis or even just frequently especially in a tough sea area like New England I think a diffrent hull, at least a few feet longer and two engines would be my preference. Actually it would be something in a 25-30 foot range, the closer to 30 the better. I know it is a great hull, and very sea worthy but it is a inshore boat that gives you great all around comfort ride and flexability and the ability to run out on good days, even get you back when it all turns to sh!t , but then you are really just rolling the dice if you do it frequently. I like my kids and even the CEO to much for that, h@ll I like Jacky Daniels too much for that ;D |

Similar hull to the 248's. Just a bit shorter. 8) It would be ideal for MJ's use.
