Re: Shipping

MJ, definetly do the BBB complaint, also call your states attorney's division of consumer affairs office, and if you have a TV station (action 5 or whatever) that will put it on the local news. I still think your motor will show up! :P Have faith! But stay on them, ask them how they would feel if situation was reversed... and what they would expect you to do to resolve it....

Try not to get yourself... or them, too upset, it will only be counter productive... just stay on them.

I dont know how anyone can loose something this big ??
Isnt there tracking numbers ???
MAC, dont worry, it will show up. If for some reason it doesnt show up. The serial number on the engine should be entered into NCIC, so if the motor ever does show up and the number is ran, police will know who to contact. As far as the money we donated, hell, its only money. We cant take it with us when we die, so better to pass it around now !!. The MOTOR will Show Up !!

Two things...

ONE: follow Willy's advice and go to police station and see if they'll investigate Trucking co...and broker...tell both that you are doing so..

TWO: everyone who is willing to do so, contact the trucking co and tell 'em you know what's goin' on and we're all watching this closely to see outcome...all 750 of us...MJ, give us trucking Co's contact info (all you have) and contact info for this slimy broker...we should only do this when and if MJ OKs it...don't wanna mess it up for him...

I also believe since this was conducted across state lines there could be some FEDERAL jurisdiction here...

I've got it! We do a satirical website with a site called:

We can duplicate (I hesitate to use the word "copy") their whole homepage and change wording to say stuff about how to get cheated with this co. and how they promise to lie about everything. Complete with links to MJ's story along with pictures of the motor and how they LOST IT.

Total cost to run the site would be 1 time 10 bucks and 15 bucks a month. I doubt it would need to run longer than a few months to attract some attention.

The deal is, as long as you put a disclaimer on there that says, "This website is a satire and was developed strictly for satirical purposes only" in real fine print, you are free of copyright infringement and there's nothing they can do about it!

I'LL DO IT IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR MOTOR OR YOU MONEY AND IT WILL BE SENT OUT IN A PRESS RELEASE FOR ALL NEWS AGENCIES TO GET THIER GRUBBY LITTLE PAWS ON - THEY LOVE THAT KIND OF CRAP ANYWAY. IF ITS NOT THERE BY THE TIME YOU GET BACK I'M DOING IT. I'M A FIGHTER!!

Like I said before,
stay on Central Freight, make them know you will not
give up. I would definately mention BBB and play the lawyer card.

I work for DANA Corp, and make Heavy truck frame siderails.
We used Central for small shipments to engineering centers.
We are talking steel "C" channels that are 25 feet long
or longer. They would lose them for weeks and then all of a sudden they would show
up at the destination.

Re: Shipping

Parish do you realize, I'm sure you do how absolutely absurd that sounds. UPS FED ex and a half dozen others ship all over the world and rarely lose anything from tiny items to huge items. And they can tell you where it is while they are doing it. Sweet Lord even the Post Office does it.
But this company has misplaced a 350 lbs. outboard motor on a freakin pallet goin from Fla to Mass. , and lost your huge loads of steel beams frequently.
We need to give MJ some time to sort this out, after that we need to start calling the company, we need both ends of the transaction to report it to the police and enter the item NCIC, and we need the better buisness bureau involved and we need to start posting info on the different web sites. If several of us start calling them and several of us start on the web can raise a lot of grief and cost that company a lot of money and buisness. And the complaint with the better buisness bureau needs to be done in their home office state and where the transactions started and terminated.

I know it sounds absurd, but because of corporate policy
and cheap rates, we were forced to use Central. :(

I agree with you about notifying all the agencies.

By the way, they lost freight going from eastern Pa to Mid Ohio. Central is notorious for this.

MJ - I just talked to Dennis who is the customer service manager at Central Freight Lines. I explained the whole story about the group helping to raise money, your home situation, and such . . . he seemed very sympathetic and says that he personally will do everything in his power to locate this motor.

Don't know if that will do any good . . . we'll see what happens.

I gave him the website address, so that he could validate everything that I was saying. Don't know if he's logged in yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if we have a new member soon. The guy knew a little about outboards and the cost, so I believe that this information didn't completely fall on deaf ears. I might just be naive, but I am hopeful. I'll PM you his contact information.
