I'm with CTT on this one, keep up the good fight.

Is it normal tonsil extraction?
I had mine out as an adult and it was done with a laser,
no bleeding, real quick recovery and very little pain afterwards.
Only drawback is the burnt meat taste for about a week.

Destroyer 03-05-2011 09:00 AM

You're all in our prayers. Sounds like the stomach flu that's been going around. Same symptoms. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

willy 03-05-2011 09:13 AM

So is there and update Spare, how she doing

spareparts 03-05-2011 01:11 PM

still in the hospital, her fever broke last night and shes drinking and eating a little bit, they are still keeping her there for observation. My wife is there with her, she said Kendall is feeling a little better. Nothing is ever normal when it comes to health care for this family.

parishht 03-05-2011 01:19 PM

Sounds like good news with the fever breaking.

Best thing for her to be under observation.

spareparts 03-07-2011 07:15 AM

she came home yesterday, she's still not feeling well. They had her on steroids over the weekend so shes extremmly cranky(so my wife). Hopefully she will be feeling better today

willy 03-07-2011 07:52 AM

Glad she is home, steroids and kids are tough, i see it with my sisters son all the time.

aussie 03-07-2011 08:44 AM

Road King Cole 03-14-2011 09:05 AM

I was worried when I saw this thread re-surface. Glad everything is "OK"...

spareparts 03-14-2011 05:57 PM

well..... She had to be admitted last weekend for dehydration, she spent two nights in the hospital, got lots of fluids and sent her home. Then last Tuesady, my wife caried her back for more fluids, she came home that night. And finnally, yesterday, we took her back to the hospital for more fluids. Good news is, she finnaly started eating today and is in better shape then she has been. I think my wife likes going to the hospital:zip:

spareparts 03-24-2011 08:01 PM

Kendall had a scheduled MRI today, just a check up. My wife added them up, each time she goes in for an MRI, they do four scans, as of today, shes had 54. preliminary report came back clear, we'll get the official word tomorrow. Even after over a year since she finished chemo and was given an all clear, these scans and waiting to hear back still keep us on edge.

RWilson2526 03-24-2011 08:08 PM

Good luck with the final results...I know luck has nothing to do with it but it cant hurt....you've had your share man...time for some clear skies.

just in case you were wondering how shes doing, this pic says it all

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...wpODEWQqpN.jpg

This pic was taken at the Miracle league T-ball game this spring. This pic is pretty special to me knowing that in November of 07, she was paralyzed from the waist down, she had to learn to walk all over again. My wife wants her to play in the Miracle league next year, I think shes ready to play with the regular T ball teams

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...GHYnXoxhji.jpg

If you been reading the caring bridge page, we found out that shes allergic to quite a few things, including most nuts, milk, corn, bananas, green peas, and chicken. So now we are reading labels and trying to find something she likes,

Destroyer 07-05-2011 12:33 AM

God has blessed you beyond belief.. our prayers for Kendalls continued recovery continue to be added to the countless others being said for all of you. It's great to hear she's doing good. She looks so happy in the camp photo.. I know you are, but you should be proud :news:

Great news Spare! Your family is an inspiration! God bless ya'll!!

spareparts 11-22-2011 08:46 PM

A little over a week ago, my wife asked me what I was doing four years ago, it took me a minute, but I remembered that I was in a hospital, trying to understand that my 3 year old daughter had just been diagnosed with a tumor in her spine. The next four years have been a blur, 1 big spinal surgery, paralyzed from the waist down, learning to walk again, 6 months of false hope, a regrown tumor, 26 months of chemo( and a whole bunch of other stuff), shes now close to being two years clear. My wife being the persistent mother she is wasn't satisfied to wait till the next scheduled scan, shes been worrying about Kendall lately, the anniversary of her diagnosis looming over head, every little thing my wife questions as possibly a result of a tumor growing back. She was concerned enough(the doctors were also) that they scheduled a scan yesterday of her spine and brain(its been a little tense around here lately). I'm happy to say the results came back clear!:sun: Thanks again to the Wellcraft V20 group for all the continued support, prayers and well wishes.

PS, its that time of year again, pay attention to the links below, these organizations have been wonderful to our family thru all of this. They operate solely on donations, your gifts are appreciated and put to well use.

Thank God. I can only imagine your stress every year. I told Melissa the good news, she asked when me when we were going back to Charleston. She had a great time at the marina playing with your kids. Best wishes to you and yours at the holidays.

Road King Cole 11-23-2011 08:10 AM

Whenever I see this thread updated I just hope that everything is OK. Very glad it is. If asked tomorrow at your thanksgiving dinner, "what are you thankful for?" you won't have to think of an answer.

I'll make another donation in honor of Kendall.

Great to hear Spare, that info had to be the best. Hopefully Kendall and the rest of your family will have nothing but great news from now on.

spareparts 12-03-2011 01:03 PM

First of all, Kendall is OK, I know some of ya'll get a bit nervous when you see this thread come up.
During our family's enduring adventure of dealing with a child that has cancer, we've come across other families that have endured similar journeys. One family in particular has become really close to our family, The Simao's. Their son, Erik(17) was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 8 years old, he underwent surgery, radiation and chemo to be declared cancer free two years ago. Since then, he's had a small growth appear on his neck, they classified it as benign and operated on it. Because it was so close to a major artery, they couldn't remove it all, so he started oral chemo last spring. He's being doing good and enjoying his senior year in high school. He started having head aches around Thanksgiving, after a few test, they decided to do an MRI, they found a reoccurance of the original brain tumor at the top of the brain stem. He's in the hospital now, they are going to wait till Monday to operate. He's doing OK, facing this as a person with maturity far beyond his age. His father was laid off from his job only two weeks ago. His mother is having a real hard time with this. My wife and his mother are best friends, its as if its one of my children in the hospital. My girls think of Erik as their big brother. My family was in this same spot the fall of 08, I've been there with a sick child, a worried wife, and no job. Its not a good place to be in, especially during the holidays, i swear it seems like this happens to some one I know every fall. I've learned that in the toughest times, people show their true worth and come together to support and help each other. Keep Erik, Barbara & Ed in your prayers. Its not an easy or short path, they've been there before, but it doesn't make it any easier. Please visit this page http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003208457730
and Keep them in your prayers.

Thanks

reelapeelin 12-03-2011 02:35 PM

I hope Erik all the best..I can't begin to imagine what you, Cindy and Erik's parents live with every day...

What I do want to say is how special it was to see Kendall the other day and have her ride around in the truck w/me and you and see her playing around the house...so smart and full of life and she seemed to get a big kick out of Kate and Banks chase ea/other around the yard...she is fun to listen to cuz she's so attentive to things...like tellin' YOU how to put the carbs back on the motor...and tellin' it RIGHT!!...

Ah ha..... The secret to Spares mechanical genius has finally leaked out. It's been Kendal all along. From now on I'm taking all my work straight to her.. who needs a middleman? :you:

Erik and his family are now in my prayers. We went through this same cancer with my son-in-law a few years back. So far he's been clean, but there's always that fear in the back of your mind that it's going to rear it's ugly head again.

bradford 12-05-2011 10:09 AM

Prayers sent for Erik and his family. God bless ya'll Spare.
