They do here. The guy still has two leftover 140's at $8,000, but will not sell them unless he does the install. He did a nice job on mine, but very pricey I think.

$3000+ for a install I would say so!!!!!!!!!! :o

In fairness I need to point out that over $750 was tax to Dubya's little brother.
And like most jobs on a boat there was more to it than just hanging the motor and walking away.
New wheel was $350, controls $250, all new cables, hauling & blocking, removing and desposing of the old POS, cleaning up twenty years of several idiot owners wiring, new drain tube, etc. All done in the Keys, where everyone would rather be doing something else.

When I worked, I got paid. I can't expect less from someone who works for me. Having said that, I did think it was pricey.

Holy Crap 900 bucks for a service to the valves :o
That does not include the other items being done plus lubes and whatever. Plus the remittance to the coffers of the King.

Did I say Holy Crap :-/

Making those ETECs look better every day.

I agree thats to much !!!

But weather its E-Tec, Honda, Johnson, Yamaha, Merc they all got you one way or the other!!

They going to pull what ever they can from you!!

Unbeliveable that you will spend $10,000 to $15,000 for new power and then have to dropv another grand to have it checked or lose your warr!!

If they want to do a study on there motors let them do it on there dime!! We pay anough already!!

I will keep buying good (I hope) used old 2 strokes till there are no more around or till I win the lotto!!

Your right Joe, and I would be too if I were a teenager again.
But I am on the other side of learning what my time is truely worth. I turn the key and this motor runs, no poking, no prodding, no wondering if it will blow up this trip or next.

I will be the first to admit, I am very lucky to be able to have a new motor. I can also tell you, the time horsing around with an old POS is not where I want to invest the time I have. It is, a matter of priorities. No one wants to spend more than they have to. I never thought I would spend $40,000 on a corvette, but I did once. I have learned a lot since then. I will not loose as much on this motor as I lost on that damn corvette.

The seats are recovered, new fuel sender is in. Time for another round of pictures, .... next time I pull pots.

Re: Suzuki 140

I dont know about any of the 4 strokes as i dont have one yet but a friend of mine runs them on rental boats along with some older yammie and johnnyrudes . He reports that they are quiet and if you dont run them flat out they get good gas mileage but the dealer required check ups are killers financially ..Frank
